Nope the plan is dive straight in with a 50 yarder, but when I will start it is another matter, and when or if I will end it, with all that double knotting is again another matter completely. TC

This afternoon I tried new knots with the twine. First off I done half a dozen rows of a double loop instead of going around the upper mesh once I went around it twice. Same results the knots were moving when side strain was put on them. Next I tried a Carric bend and while the knots did not move I did have 3 frictions snaps of the twine, so that was a no no. Lastly I tried after making a single knot making another bight on top of it, and it has worked, I really have put some side strain on the knots but they have not moved. All I have to do now is get my head around doing two knots instea

It is surprising how many pieces of classical music are heard on the telly. Saint-Saéns Dance Macarbre Prokofiev Peter and the wolf Dvorak New word symphony Einaudi nearly everywhere as background music. Modest Mussorgsky pictures at an exhibition Khachaturian Adagio of Spartacus and phrygia See how many you can remember and name.

It's Funny you should say that as I was typing an answer and Fcuked up and lost it but the gist was I first got into classical music around 1970 when I was also into groupes like Grand Funk Railroad, very early Queen, Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin and of course the ultimate Pink Floyd. Yet at the same time I bought my first classical LP Mozart Piano Conterto #20 in D K446. These days I have pretty eclectic tastes in classical music from the above mentioned Berber's Adigio for strings and Karl Jenkins Benidictus from the armed man Einaudi's Le Onde to really old stuff like Schubert's The Tro

I love classical music, not all of it, but quite a lot of it. Who else is into it? TC

Trespass is not a crime. Civil offence only. You can only sue for damage to the property trespassed upon. No damage, no case, simply put Not always. It is a criminal offence to trespass on British Rail land. TC

There was a video put up on here a couple of days ago. Where they used lamps for filming purposes while long netting. The rabbits were bolting into the nets at one hell of a speed and in most cases bouncing off the nets. IMO the speed with which the rabbits were hitting the nets was caused by the lamps. Think of it this way your out walking in a field and there are rabbits out in the fields they almost always bolt towards the hedge, but invariably stop just before they get to the hedge and sit a while before they make their minds up to enter where they are going. That is what you want to r

I have found that rabbit will travel good distances if there is good feeding for them. Some spots are early some are late, what I have done in the past is get out with the lamp and find out what time they are feeding in an area. One time I have found to be very good for finding rabbits out is when we have had three or four days rain in the previous days. TC

"When I go clamping I don't start till at least midnight" .... Barsteward. Seriously though each and every drop is different. It depends what time the local fox population make their rounds, the weather, what the weather has been like for the last few days, walkers, lampers will all have an effect the list is really endless. Dan, The selvedges are normally the same top and bottom that is why I asked why you had made one a lot larger than the other. Did you use the same mesh board to make both the selvedges? TC
-
Just looking at the photos again I noticed that the bottom selvedge seems a little large. Did you do that on purpose? If so what was the reasoning behind it? TC

Sorry chaps empty now. TC

I have heard of sparrows and jackdaws picking off the flowers, that could be the reason. I never pinched off mine this year and they have grown to the top of the sticks and are nearly down to the floor and still flowering. That said, I had my first flowers the first week of July and it was nearly 3 weeks before any of the flowers set they were dropping off like confetti. TC

I don't know of anyone who uses a dog at night, but using a dog that will mark bushes during the day is great sport with a couple of short long nets (Oxymoron?) I used to do it with the GWP all the time. TC

I never take a net caught rabbit for granted, and most of us are the same, it does not matter if it's one or ten the thrill is still there even after all these years. The reason I think I never tire of it is because every situation is different, you have to weigh up where to place the net, how to set it and nearly every time you learn something new. Your on the road now there is no going back. Welcome to the club. TC

It really is quite hard to judge from the video but the twine did look stiff and it did not seem to cling to the rabbits bodies. personally I prefer a limp twine without any spring in it. There were a few rabbit that when the entered the net I thought 'they are caught' only for them to pull out of the net. I put that down to one of the lamps and camera man being on the wrong side of the net. But it could be that it was the net not clinging to the bodies of the rabbits. It is rare to see that many rabbits bounce off in a day time situation yet alone in the night. But without being able to h

This is the best year I have had for runner beans for donkey's years. I have been picking around a kilo a day for the last three weeks, even the neighbours are closing the curtains when they seem me coming with a bag of beans for them now. TC
