slid to the left a long way off topic. i believe it was whats more important the net or the setting Smithie, it's called thread developement, you start off with a title and see where it takes you? At the moment we are at. But that is just a mere by-pass I am sure we will get back on the road before we run out of road. TC

The problem they faced making that video, is they had to rely on lamps to see the rabbits hit the net. As far as I could see there were at least two lamps going, one was even behind the net shining the lamp on the oncoming rabbits. No wonder the rabbits were spooked. In one respect I agree with Smithie the video is poo. In respect of it does not give the viewer a true refection on how rabbits hit the net at night. On the other hand I agree with Mr Wilkes, in that the lamps and the positioning of the lamps and camera did not do the makers any favours. Hows that for diplomacy? As too reg

I watched that video a while ago, watching it again It just confirms what I have been saying for years. During the night you slope the pegs away from the oncoming rabbits, for the reason that when the rabbits hit the wall of the net they should be standing on it. With that video it may have been the lamps that caused the rabbits to bolt into the net, and the fact that they were lighting up the net did not help. It was maybe the lamps or the speed with which they banted the field caused those rabbits to hit the net at a fair rate of knots. At around 2 minutes 30 there is a rabbit that has

I love those 5 yard stopnets would not go ferreting hedgerows without them. I put mine on pegs though, as I find the fixed variety very limiting. One placed every 40 or 50 yards at right angles to the hedge both sides of the hedge account for quiet a few rabbits during the day. TC

I have been thinking about the folklore surrounding longnetting, the perceived necessity of at least a net rigged by halves or 100% bag as some like to call it. That in turn made me think about how I set my nets for different situations. Most of the time when ferreting during the day it is a compromise as you try to maximise the setting of any net. Lets take a scenario where you have a warren in the middle of a field, a simple job, just surround the warren with a net enter the ferrets and Bobs your uncle. But, is it just that simple? There are very few times during the winter that there is

A good point made, but what if a little extra thought could make that net with hardly any bag, a decent catching net. TC

Discuss. For what it's worth, I would go for the latter. TC

Just read the whole thread. One thing that has struck me is the army trains a person to kill. the army then utilise that person to kill, yet when their time is up there is no desensitization to the kill mode that they have installed in the soldier..

All this banter is all very well, and despite Ideation's assertion that they do, I beleive he has powers that normal people do not have. So that can be discarded. We are no where near the truth of wether vegans swallow. TC

And I can see you telling Pamela Anderson, sorry your vegan!!! TC

I was just reading about the difference between vegans and veggies. Then the thought struck me are vegans allowed to swallow or must they spit? A very puzzled TC

It is not so much the netting, although that leaves a lot to be desired, it's his after sales service or rather the lack of it. He thinks once he has your money and you have a net that is the end of it. People who complain about the nets get a mouth full of abuse. One chap on one of his previous incarnations on ebay complained about a hole in the net and was told "what the fec do you want me to do about it? Mend it" Some of his replies to negative feedback. I seen a photo of mine once and it was really scary how alike we looked, if he had not been waring skinhead clothes I would have sworn it was me. It freaked me out a bit. TC

Two of my brothers-in-law were slaughter men. they worked upstair in the killing and skinning room at the abbatior, all the intestines would be thrown down a chute in the middle of the floor. Down stairs they got spread out on a tray and the intestines were sorted, Gwyn the chap whos job it was to sort them would charge you £1.50 for a whole tripe 20p for a sheeps head 50p for a second stomach. He would be spattered inshit and blood from head to toe from empting the intestines by hand, sorting the hides and sheep skins. He had a barrow at the end of the tray and all the shit went into the barr

I would bite someones hand off for a new plot where no one had grown veg before. No white rot for the onions, no club root for the brassicas, no scab for the potatoes. A clean sheet just get a good rotation going and you will be fine. Grab one while you can. One chap on the allotment always had good brassicas, while the rest of us had clubroot. While talking to him one day I asked about how he was able to grow good cabbage cauli swedes etc; and the rest of us struggled with the clubroot that was in the soil of all the plots on the allotment . He told me that he was given a tip by a RHS

I see you made it with a hand made net, nice job, bit of a waste of a hand made net though, ( just a netters joke) A couple of observations about the way the net is set that may help you. Try and get as much tension in the top line as you can even if it means addiing guy ropes to the the end poles That will allow you to drop the height of the net on the poles without the net sagging to much between the poles, the less height you have the deeper the belly of the net will be, the deeper the belly the more bag this will create = more rabbits caught. Well done on knitting the net, you would be

I was given an intrepid elite for my fifth birthday every year it went back to K P Morrits Intrepid works falmouth. Every year it came back as a new reel. One year I snapped the handle on it, so sawed a piece of copper pipe in half slid it over what was left of the handle and hammered it in to place, bent the two pieces of copper out for the reel seat and used it like that for the rest of the year. Sent it away at the end of the year and got a new reel back. Every year the price was the same 12/6d. Customer service was fantastic with Intrepid. TC

Dowe Eggberts is lovely coffee but I prefer Kenco instant, 2 sugars 11/2 coffee and no milk. When you think about the civet coffee it's no worse than eating sausage that have natural intestings as skins those are just flushed out with water. TC

Having sold on ebay myself, it can be a bit, up and down. It is hard to guage what you will sell in the next few weeks and to order nets ready. Just when you think you have it sussed and you place your order in time the supplier is waiting on their order to come though. So you have times when you have no nets to sell, not his fault just circumstances. Or he may just be taking a break. TC

I have never understood why people are against tinned dog food. They say it's 90% water, which may or may not be true in exact percentage wise. Yet bone is 20% water and muscle is 75% water so not a lot of difference there. TC

Nope the net is not but the pegs are. Same seller I looked back over my feedback and he bought a few nets and sets of pegs off me. He is a member on here under the same name. TC
