The first thing I do when confronted with a new idea, is try and find a reason why it won't work, my own and anybody elses, then try and work out the snags. I have thought about this for over an hour and I cannot find anything that could go wrong with it. It's beauty is in it's simplicity and like all good ideas that work, that are not your own, there is always the pang of 'why did I not think of that?' Well done a brilliant idea. The migrating lines can be a bind when setting multiple sets with tied in nets. I used to have that problem myself when I first started and it took me a while t

Secret Squirrel Sniper...... Catty Shot!
Tiercel replied to Longers7's topic in Catapult & Slingshot Hunting
We all get p!ssed off from time to time, and you are right there are some muppets on here. But just ignore them, the ones who count are the ones you should focus on, illegitimi non carborundum. Unless of course you just cannot help but take the bait. TC -
I have a feeling that the team just thought they had to turn up to win against the Italians and the Irish, stupid really seeing as how the Irish went against the All Blacks. There will be no such complacency against England thats for sure, they will have to be on top of their game to beat them at HQ. TC

Richy Rees will never play for Wales while Gats and Howley are there. He sh!t on his chips with them two, that said he is playing really well. TC

I only take them at night now, 500mg and that allows me to sleep. One of the side effects is constipation and that has helped my IBS. FFS when I start making an invetory of the things going wrong I might as well shoot myself. TC

Up untill just over a year ago, I had not had a full nights sleep for over 25 years with arthritc pain in my neck and shoulders. Then my GP put me on Naproxen a nsaid, since then my life has been transformed. The pain has almost gone and it allows me to raise my arms higher than I have been able to for 25 years. Not everyone can take them as there are side effects, but if you can take them they are worth the world, to be able to do everyday things again like changing a light bulb or even just reaching for the top shelf of the cuboard. Lot of people with low post counts reading this thread. TC

To me that says more about your casting skills that the WF line. TC

I would disagree with that the weight forward does help a little for casting, but does nothing for presentation, and as the OP was asking about fishing with a dry fly, the best presentation will come with a double taper. I have a little 7ft #3 weight rod and a cheap DT3 floater and the presentaion is first class with it, turns over beatifully. I have used it on fairly large waters when the sedges are on, of an evening and it catches me more fish because of the presentation i am able to get with it. TC

With the Welsh team to be announced any day, I think that it virtually picks it self so there will be no surprises, except maybee at 9 who would you go for Webb or two step Mike? TC

RAW I just looked at my post and it seems I have offended you greatly. Some how in my dotage I called you BAW and for that Titanic mistake I apologies unreservedly. TC

I fished the Skerries many years ago in march, best charter skippers I have ever been out with. They would adjust the boat to keep you on the edge of a grounce so that every one had a time on the edge. The only disapointment on the day was that all the plaice had spawned and were in poor condition. There were plaice caught that were the size of dustbin lids but barely weighed 3lb, in prime condition they would have made the 5lb mark. TC

Have a look at these nice looking hens with pastel shade eggs. Old Cotswolds Legbars. TC

Welcome to the club. What makes it worse is I was a pretty good shot with a shotgun TC

It all depends where you are going to fish with the rod? Small streams, large rivers, stock ponds or large reservoirs? If you need to be casting any distance a weight forward will help, if you need presentaion then a double taper will be better. For dry lines I have always gone for a double taper. I have spent vast sums of money in the past trying to get the best line possible. But none of those expensive lines have caught me any more fish, they may have been better to cast with, but as you are starting out you have nothing to compare it with, so you would not notice the difference. By-eck BAW that tale took me back some years. It was like I was 15 again and reading Jack Ivester-Lloyd in the shooting times. The hours I poured over his tales of his bobbety pack, a different time I know, but the result to the reader is still the same. TC

To Young To Leave Me,,,r,i,p Ern Lad
Tiercel replied to tjones3862's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I am sorry for your loss I think we have all been there at some time. It really is sad when it happens to a younger dog, you feel for the dog and what might have been. I think there is a lesson here for all of us, dogs are only flesh and blood and pushed to their limit they will break. Accidents happen, but the more your out the more likely the chance of that accident happening. I think we all know that, but it still leaves a big hole when it does happen. RIP Ern TC -
First Attempt At Stickmaking
Tiercel replied to Larryleftjab's topic in Countryside Skills, Craft & DIY
Thats a pretty good stick for a first attempt. You can buy resin for the cornet of the antler, most stick supplies sell it. Went out for my saturday walk this afternoon to collect sticks and I found this beauty of a twisty Hazel. It will be ready to work around May next year. TC- 12 replies

A rather ambiguous term 'All Rounder'. I used to have a rabbiting dog that would mark, bush, run on the lamp I suppose you could have called her an all round rabbiting dog. But an All Rounder she was not. When you use the term All Rounder it conjours up a picture in your mind of a dog that can do every discipline that a dog is required to do. I honestly believe that no such dog exists. Used as a prefix as in all round rabbit dog or all round ****** dog then fair enough. TC

Rats In A Loft

Thats because all the dick heads are on the dog threads. This thread, no ego's, no bullsh1t just good old say what your experiences are. Wish all threads could be like this. The only problem is, that most of the answers have thrown up more questions that will need an answer. TC
