  1. Unions as a mediator between bosses and workers where much needed. The problems arose when the labour party needed the unions to get into power, and they became a political animal Mate, you have no idea where people have lived or what they have done so that's nonsense Does baw not come from Glasgow as he stated on this thread? Do you not work in London as you have posted in the past on the conjestion charge thread? Does not Gnasher live in london?..... Nonsense? TC
  2. One thing I have noticed with this thread, all the people who have said that people should get up off their arse and stop blaming, and do something for themselves all come from the bigger cities. They do not have a clue about living outside of a semi metropolis. Where there was/is limited work available once the industry that built that community was destroyed for greed of the elite. Before anyone states that I am bleating again, I have not claimed dole since before the Mc Gregor plan 1978. I have always worked and I expect to work till the day I take my last breath. I ask nothing of anyon
  3. Not at all. I was just clarifing a point that MrTeapot had forgotten to put in his post. And has you have so little time to edit a post these days he was unable to add it to the post. TC
  4. I take it you removed the cuddies to take the photo's. TC
  5. Another thing that's wrong with society these days is running through that post...... The blame game. Do you take responsibility for your own actions or life mate or is it all dictated to you by others? As far as possible, I have always taken responsibility. Yet when what I want, is not what the majority wants there is nothing I can do about it. That is one reason I never vote. We are and always have been cannon fodder. TC
  6. Fcuk there is some shit being talked on this thread. Yes Thatcher done good for herself from middle class beginings, yes she was an astute politician. And yes she fcuked the country up by setting neighbor against neighbor, by applealing to the greed that is in everyone. It is not the politicians that have caused the lack of community spirit, it is the greed of the people, with the 'fcuk you jack I am allright' attitude that she fostered as the right way to be. TC

  8. Is fear just a human word for a range of natural instincts? Do animals actually feel fear or is it a natural reaction to a set of circumstances for that spieces? In the animal world you have solitory and social animals, sheep cattle pigs etc are social animals and tend to follow the crowd and any 'fear' tends to be en masse rather than solitory, as if the herd, flock has a collective brain, and all the efforts are to preserve the main body rather than an individual animal. People do tend to think that animals have the same cognitive reactions to a situation as a human would, they don't
  9. Matt, if what happend was due to strychnine poisoning, it does beg the question how much stock injested the stuff? TC
  10. Many years ago I had been lamping on ground that I later found out had been done with strychnine for moles. One field in particular had a lot of mole hills and plenty of puddles I ran the dog in the field, and as it was the last field of the night we went straight back to the car and headed home. On the way home I got stopped by the police, long story short they wanted to search the car. When I called the dog off his blanket on the back seat he could not stand, half an hour before he had been fine. I told them I needed to get him to a vet and they let me go. By the time I got home he was v
  11. They are wood hyacinths not bluebells. They have a shorter stalk and the leaves are wider than bluebells. TC
  12. Well done a deserved win First triple crown in 11 years you must be really chuffed. TC
  13. Smithie, There are pro's and cons to tying in the first and last meshes to a line. Some do, some don't, I tie my meshes in on one line only every 5 yards, I find that it keeps the bag in place and allows me to set and pick up a net without the need to re-arrange the bag of the net as it is always there. By tying in on one line only it does not matter whether you set the tied in line as a headline or foot line. I have read a lot about where the net is tied in being a magnet for trapping meshes where the wind blows the meshes over the knot, I honestly do not get that problem as with 5 ya
  14. Over the years I have tried all the major brands of fly line. If I am honest, they do make casting easier for the novice. The big question is do they catch you more fish? In my mind, the jury is out on that one, but on the balance of probability I would say marginally yes. That said I learned to flyfish in the mid 1960's when there was no such thing as carbon fibre and the choice of lines was limited to say the least. You had a choice of lines that were either greased up to float or sank like a stone. You learned to fish with what you had, you soon learned the twitch of the finger tric

  17. Matt I am really chuffed for you. This may be a stupid question, but here goes, how do they keep themselves clean like the one in the photo? TC

  22. Ball has been on some form for the scarlets this year. He had a good game against the French. TC
  23. If you braided a purse net ring on to the end meshes of the netting passed the running line through the rings, you could then have a single bridle to your end pin? What really fascinates me is where you got the idea from, what prompted that line of thought? From your posts it is plain to see that you think outside the box, and can find inspiration from other applications. But I cannot work out where this has come from. TC
