10 years ago Redmills was a very good food, i wouldn;t feed it to rats now. As for gain wouldn't feed that to rats either. I tried it and it didn't suit my dogs at all they developed a bad skin condition and shit for england all sloppy!!!. I now feed skinners Field and Trail Duck and Rice during summer and when there not working hard, and Chudleys racer during the winter and when there working hard. The Chudleys keeps the dogs in cracking condition and they do very well on it. You get what you pay for in this world, feed shit and you get the same back i'm afriad.

Pet Passport - Rabies Vaccination
mally replied to lapin2008's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
2 of my pups went to the US and Finland at 10 weeks old (2 years ago) and they didn't need a rabies jab. All they needed was a microchip, worming and flea tick treatment and a fit to travel certificate from the vet cost about £50 a pup... They only needed a rabies jab if they were over 12 weeks. -
I'd be very worried if my vet said he needed another vets opinion, time to find another vet mate. There is a good greyhound vet in loughborough he has treated a couple of mates dogs and they have been very happy with him. I don't have his number as i always use Paul Evans at Manchester but i can get you his number is you would like it please pm me.

I've had a few dogs try attacking mine whilst out walking, luckily My labrador Fern is never on the lead but always at heel. She never ever starts a fight but can she fettle the buggers if they start. I also always have a good stick with me. A bloke was walking a couple of boxers along the canal towpath a couple of weeks ago, i saw him about 400 yds off and put my whippets on the lead and told fern to heel up. The bloke did feck all and when he was 100 yds away the boxers saw us and came sprinting over growling and snarling, i dragged the whippets into the hedge and stood in front of them and

You can breed to any canary mate, Alot of lads breed goldfinch x norwich canarys but they put the eggs under fifes of dimorphics as the norwich arn't very good feeders. I like the smaller mules myself.
-
I bred goldie mules from fifes and dimorphic mate and i prefered the mules from the dimorphics, they were a little bigger and coloured up well. Dimorphics are also really good feeders.

lamb watching (my 1st dog to do it in 16 yrs)
mally replied to gibbo1973's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Give her some one to one training mate, I'd use a lunge rope about 30 yards long that way you have control of her if the worst should happen and she does decide to chase shout NO just before the rope tightens. She'll think twice before doing it again. Lambs are more of a temptation to anydog and with her being in season and on the lead for a fortnight, she was probably just buzzed up a bit. I'd wait until she's over her season and walk her again on her own near them. She may not look twice, you know what women are like with PMT !!! -

mally replied to Jonezy's topic in Optics and Night Vision
I have a reciever thats like that mate and it works just fine and has done for the past 3 seasons. The collar alone is worth £40 mate so it's worth every penny. goodluck with the sale -

http://www.birdcareco.com/English/TheBirdCareCompany/index Don't feed too much Niger mate as the buggers will favour that instead of eating the other and they don't get all the nutrients they need. I'd be giving him a little soak seed until he pickes up as well mate, but make sure you keep rinsing it well while it's soaking

We ordered a boat load of the avery goose decoys off this guy and the service was spot on, delivered on time service second to none. A word of warning though DO NOT ORDER FROM LOUGH NIEGH DECOYS THEY RIPPED MY MATES OFF BIG TIME AND STILL HAVE OVER £600 OF THERE MONEY SO BE WARNED.

can you get hold of any colloidal silver mate, you put it in the water. I also found the stress mix (forget what you call it) from the birdcare company. I used to keep and show fife canaries and bristich finches and used this in the water when they were off colour and before/after they were going to shows.

I probably enjoy the whippets more than i did the lurchers i kept before them, however i think you have to put alot more into the whippets than you do lurchers to get them how you want them to be. Training can be more difficult, but if you perservere you will be repaid tenfold. Vixen my fawn bitch just lives for work the more lamping/ferreting you give her the more she wants to go!!. Chartpolski will tell you when he came to stay for a week, we were out every bloody hour either lamping, ferreting or shooting. I think we had 10 hours sleep in 7 days!! but the dogs were always keen to go out.

For Sale kc reg working whippet pups
mally replied to hedge hunter's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
I'm pleased i've seen this before taking Floyd out lamping on my permission to get the sire to his forthcoming litter catching rabbits on the lamp!!. I think he's been spending too much time on the working whippet forum and as 90% of the litters on there advertised by a certain member are accidental matings!!. I know for certain that if my dog ever accidentally caught a bitch on mine i would be going to the vets for the Jab. There is no excuse what so ever for accidental matings. I have a dog here with 3 bitches, good stockmanship is all thats needed to prevent it. I even walk the dog -
I'd be tempted to try a talk you mrs into getting a cocker mate. I don't know anyone who works a king charles either and i've covered loads of shoot days etc with the photography over the years. A couple of OAP's have them in the village i live and they struggle to walk around the block (the dogs not the oap's!!) I don't think they've got an hours work in them let alone a days work mate. You would be far better with a cocker mate

Wrong, its one of 2 cubs, born on the very land the pic was took, and the reason they showed no fear of me, is because they see me daily with my dog, and i leave them alone Looks like it's trapped it's tail at some time mate... I've a litter on some of my permission that i will be taking a look at once the silage has all been cut. Although i don't mind seeing the odd one a few play havoc with the wild english partridge and the pheasant poults. Best get the majority out the way before the poults are put down.

Funny that as he bragged on the advert on here that he'd sold them all . From reading the add on the link you would think these dogs are the best in England, when in fact 2 of the folk listed don't even lamp there dogs so how can they claim there good alrounders. £600 for this breeding is just taking the piss, you can get far better bred dogs for much less. Thats probably the reason why he's still got a couple of pups left to sell.. The litter advertised on here (By Hedgehunter) is a healthy looking litter and priced to sell by a lad who works his dogs and has bred for the right reasons

I work sandy, silvers and polecat jills all from the same line going back 20 years. I work the light coloured ones early season if the covers still up etc. I keep them well fed and if they do kill and it's deep or in an awkward place they will come off the kill after 10-15 minutes. I always work between 2-9 jills in each warren depending on it's size.
-
Totally Agree KC, when i was involved with a forum a member posted an advert for his stud dog and started to ask questions in another user name, little did he know the IP address is displayed on each and every post if your admin. Hence he was removed and exposed for being a prick!!. I've only ever had one username and it's the same on every forum, i don't hide behind a keyboard everyone knows me... Just how it should be.

Well stig as no one else will help i will, but dont expect a serious reply now! £5 worth of petrol and a match --- on a postcard anyway its a wooden kennel -- be a few tins of wasp and fly killer and run in the morning mate.. I've used the ant powder in the past mate, if there going in through a hole then just blow it in and around the hole and they will be sorted. Best to do it as it's getting dark while there less active. You can also get the aerosol wasp nest destroyer they work very well too.

will pm you mate

I always advise on collecting a new pup first thing in the morning to let it get used to the other dogs and it's surroundings. I also have a dog cage next to the dog bed my other dogs sleep in. That way there's less chance of the pup whining at night if it can see the other dogs relaxing and sleeping then it's usually quiet.

mally replied to hedge hunter's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
All look nice pups for 5 weeks old, but the black dog would be my pick from the pics. He looks a belter. Nice to see healthy pups
