  1. The time has come to replace the tyres on the 4x4,have a choice of 3 to choose from BFG all terrain 160 euros each general grabber all terrains 138 euros each bridgestone duellers 175 euros each the bulk of my driving is done on roads, but take it off road a fair bit during the season, mostly across fields, stubbles farm tracks etc. which of the 3 would suit my needs best, and what do they wear like,be good to hear from those who have tried some of the above cheers in advance Smasher
  2. I always will try and cap a dig if at all possible, usualy a large flat stone if there is one to hand, carefully placed as not to cause problems on future digs, its always easier opening up an old scar having broke up all the compact ground and roots especially on tricky digs, where as a straight back fill means you could be digging in hard ground again,no point in givin yourself unnecessary hardship,
  3. The thing with bolting terriers or out an out sounders in my experience is that sooner or later if they get caught out with the sharp end, they don't like it ,and that can be the beginning of the end for them as digging dogs, also I find most lads who prefare a bolting terrier have little or no interest in digging to there dog but only see it as a tool to provide sport for other means, each to there own I suppose
  4. Got mine a new bag and new belt, hoover should work fine now
  5. You need to use a swivel or two when chaining/pinning up a dog as those clips are prone to opening, when the dogs are twisting about,
  6. R.I.P. he sounded like a good bloke to have about
  7. whats the difference? your goin to have to dig regardless
  8. @ Tuffty it's a Bullfinch x Goldfinch Not mine a friend-hunting buddy keeps and cross breeds natives with each other and also canaries
  9. Its hard to believe this great old line of dogs is so hard to trace down, surely there is lads who have kept it going,if its not gone completely or heavily diluted then it wont be long until its is,if theres lads with similar blood who have it and want to keep it to them selves for what ever reason, then its just a matter of time until the last nail will be getting hammered in the coffin of that particular line of dogs,
  10. If its breathable then it aint waterproof, simple as,if it lets the air out, then when under pressure from the elements its going to let the water in,at best they are shower proof and should be labelled as so.if fully water proof you will problebly end up just as wet from condensation anyway,A merino wool base layer, micro fleece and decent top layer is what id go for and a dry set of gear or two back in the motor is what I opt for.
  11. Better off waiting until you have enough money saved up and get yourself a Jackaroodle,
  12. There not a bad motor,as 4x4's go there handy on juice 28-33 mpg,not bad off road with decent tyres on,word of note tho, take care in the wet on roundabouts but the same can prob be said about most lwb 4x4's,on the downside the heads are known for cracking about the 120,000 mile mark,
  13. if you arrive on the day with qualified pup will it be admitted or does it have to be registered before hand,
  14. Good luck with the show kevin & pat, allways a good turn out for this one,and rightly so,will there be a beer tent this year or do I have to bring my own again
  15. well lads the chick has started to whistle/chirp today, and its not that annoying sound zebra finches make, plus I think its a little bit big to be a zebra finch,it makes a single whistle/chirp every 5-10 seconds if that's of any help
  16. ive got some formula for hand feeding chicks from a friend who breeds native mules,i was wondering could it possibly be an albino green finch chick,
  17. Kids arrived home with a chick they found today, looks like its just out of the nest, its fledged but cant yet fly, they found it clambering through the hedge its a finch of some sort, however its completely white with red eyes'albino'any bird lads on here know what it might be?
