  1. In my opinion if a second dog is needed to complete the task, then you have to queston either yourself or the dog you are diggin,
  2. The week before last we were out running a few holes for a farmer and he tried to give us the price of a few pints,20 euro to be precise,we told him, the day we start taking money for this is the day we would pack it in.It was a nice geusture all the same, nice to be appreciated,it also opened up a neighbouring farm to us,it would be a cold day in hell before i would pay to work my dogs anywhere, get out and put in the leg work during the off season and you should have plenty of work for your tykes come autum/winter
  3. Pick yourself up a motion detector, keep it about 4 foot of the ground, when the beam is broken an alarm/seiren goes off, also some good locks, they wont hang around to long trying to bust open the locks with an alarm going off, couple this up with a motion detector halogen, and its quite effective, can be done quite cheeply, not much good in the day time though, but at least you'll get a nights sleep.
  4. How does compare to the barryvox?i'm due an update
  5. Most unusual thing iv'e ever come across in an earth was a still fresh half eaten cat,no nearby roads,so definatly not a road kill
  6. Theres an old saying 'you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear'
  7. over shot or under shot,if its not bothering the dog you shouldn't let it bother you
  8. great show, all dogs were well turned out,a credit to their owners, was very well run and fairly judged, lots of like minded people in the one feild and no big ego's,i think its fair to say its one of the best if not the best show for working dogs and dogmen in the country, well done to kevin and all involved.
  9. I would say the 'GOOD DOGS' of today are no better or worse than those of yester year, just better equipment available now, having said that i would say there is a higher percentage of shite about now, with lads breeding for the wrong reasons,a good dog is a good dog no matter what eara it is from
  10. would 7 from the one earth count as all digs. I beat you by 1 mick,we had 8 from 1 earth in the month of november so adults, but still only counted as the one dig.We went back to same area 3 weeks later and could not find any of them, strange as we let them all go and i think i know every earth in the imediate area. myself and another member on here had 10 from the one spot last season, around chistmas time, after digging to the old dog we lifted him and let a young bitch run the hole,to cheuqe for more, there were 3 seperate chambers branching off from the main tube,in the far end of a big
  11. if i want to resize a pic to post on here what size does it have to be,for example if pic size says 145kb and i try to put it on here it says file to big
  12. best make sure there's a bail of straw ring side for u so Dee,
  13. With 0.5 to go you should have finished the dig to see what was what, any number of things could have happened,he could have killed cubs and come out after completing his task.could have been cubs up a tight tube.quarry could have been walled in and dog wasn't experienced to go through, quarry could have bolted unknown to you whilst digging, dog could have had enough and come away, hopefully not.cubs can make even an experienced dog look foolish,or dare i say it,could have been trying to dig on up to a rabbit,a bit more info is needed.did the dog make contact?had you another dog on site to run the
  14. I suppose neil, back in the day when all was legal, and badger cubs, usually being born in february, were well on there way and safly up by the end of summer,i can see a bit of logic in an early morning,LATE summer dig, when the temp is down a bit,in my opinion there is far more damage done by so called terrier men, huntng in march/april than there is done in LATE summer,a lot of lads hunt into march and beyond,i cant see the logic in it,If some feel the season is a little short,i would say start back a little early rather than hunting on a bit late,by early i mean august/sept
  15. Didn't Tommy Dobson use a chocolate bedlington as an outcross to his terriers all those years ago, when they were a sensible size and game, aparently to add fire to what he already had,'Tommy Dobsons Chocolates'
  16. never found a need for them, and personaly don't like having them on a dig,but each to his own,
