  1. I had one in .243 and didn't like the trigger at all, even with a different spring it still felt like a rusty bog door latch. I got rid and replaced it with a Tikka T3.
  2. Ten acres is fine as long as it is a safe ten acres ie: it has suitable back stops.
  3. Well done, looks like a nice fox too.
  4. I just got rid of an A bolt because of the trigger, but i am very fussy about triggers. All my c/fires are Tikka T3s lite, varmint and super varmint and have superb triggers with a bit of fettling. The super varmint has a set trigger which is delightfull to use. All my rimfires are cz with fettled triggers.
  5. That may be the case in Devon but up here there is plenty of .17 ammo' cases etc. If the the op decides on the .17 hornet i can give you the data that is very successfull in a few .17s round here.
  6. I would go for .17 hornet in cz as opposed to savage. Really flat shooting, fox to 200yds rabbits, corvids to 300yds. Easy to reload for aswell if you decide to go that route. My mate has one and it's a good little rifle, he shot a half inch group at 200yds with it last week.
  7. When i had my .223 i used an Ase utra jetz cqb on it and the same mod worked well on my .243 aswell.
  8. I started off by advising considering the hornets .17 and .22 and i stand by that advice. If fox is involved at greater than 100yds as you have stated then you will need something more substantial than a hmr. My mate has a .17 hornet and i used it to shoot a few rabbits with him last night, not a mark on them and very flat shooting. I think they are ideal for quarry up to fox size to 200yds and up to 300yds on corvids, rabbits. As for the people who say you will not be granted a centre fire on first application then i am afraid that statement is "horseshit". If you can show good reason
  9. For rabbits and fox to 120yds and beyond i would consider both the hornets .17 and .22.

  11. That's crazy my mate just rung me up this afternoon and said I can have his cz 453 American for very cheap with scope and mod Get it bought.
  12. I have two .204s and use them both for everything up to deer, however i don't shoot targets except to zero. I don't have any problems getting brass, bullets etc for them. I used to have a .223 but when i got the first .204 it never came out of the cabinet again so i sold it and bought another .204.I wouldn't entertain a .222, .223 now after shooting a .204 and everyone i know who has swapped from .223 etc wouldn't go back. One potential problem is they aren't deer legal but .22 c/fires are only legal for cwd or muntjac in England anyhow and seeing as there are none where i go it doesn't matter
  13. Better with a cz if you find one in your budjet.
  14. Sensible approach, shame it has to take admin to think about it.
  15. CZ are decent enough rifles, what twist rate is it?
  16. Deker is spot on with his advice, of course people who sell guns don't want you to clean them as you will be buying new ones often. All my rifles get cleaned everytime they are shot regardless of whether it's fifty rounds i've shot or just one. The residue from fired rounds is corrosive why would you want to leave something like that in your barrel. Clean your equipment everytime and you will get good service from it. I often wonder if the people advocating not cleaning are also the type who never change the oil on their car then wonder why the engine gets worn. If you get the o
  17. If someone is operating the lamp for you then i would use a lightforce blitz 240, if on your own i would use a nightmaster xsearcher. The xsearcher is better than any lamp with a filter on it as the coloured leds in the xsearcher do not reduce the distance that the light is effective to.
  18. Good scope, always a good thing to do is spend money on quality optics. It will give years of good service with a reliable organisation behind it for future servicing etc. Oh and they are just better to look through aswell.
  19. Well done, you don't have to have an expensive rifle to enjoy it just an accurate one. As funds allow you can buy an aftermarket trigger for it. One thing you cannot scrimp on though is practice, i have never seen a tight arse thats any good at any sort of shooting. When you can afford it put targets out at 100, 200 300 yds in differing winds and note where you need to shoot to hit the target. Good luck with it and enjoy it.
  20. I get £1.50 gutted and it doesn't matter where they are shot as the man does human consumption and pet food.To be honest unless there is a fair number of them i don't bother because either the family or dogs will eat them.
  21. The icotec programable units are quite good and if you are handy at downloading/programing you could put the calls you want on it.
  22. i agree with you that the american calls do not work over here and tenterfeild fox whistle does not do well either and as for ianm you cant beat your hand for calling takes a while to master how many have you shot with fox pro wildfire in one night ianm I have shot 4 in one night with the foxpro but i am shooting areas that are not abundant with foxes. The last i shot came in to fox squalls then fox rally, i would be really interested to learn how to make these calls on the back of a hand.
