  1. Because it only holds 24 calls at a time and they have a remote with numbered buttons on it rather than a screen that shows the calls by name. For example on the gc350 number 1 may be fox squalls so you have to remember that. on the gc500 number 1 may be fox squalls but you can see that on the screen no need to remember what number it is. The gc500 will hold 200 calls the same as the decent foxpros so all you need do is scroll through a screen and press select to change the call required. Whereas on the gc350 the call you require may be on another sd card in your pocket, at home wherever,
  2. No it isn't the way to go it's just an excuse not to buy the best avaliable. Do it right do it once. If you have a caller that holds 200 calls and you can scroll through them in the field to play something different because what you normally use isn't working it is a big advantage that can mean the difference between a succesfull outing or going home empty handed. This has happened numerous times to me, something obscure like squirrel distress, chicken or mallard duckling have worked when all the rest have failed. My advise would be don't limit your options by saving a few quid now. It'
  3. Not quite as much i have found, possibly due to the speed of the bullet.
  4. You wouldn't bare your arse to one.
  5. Virtually every fox i have shot has had no exit wound, simply a tiny hole in and the insides almost liquified, except head shots where if taken front on removes the rear of the skull. A shooting friend of mine had a hornet and after using mine got rid and bought a T3 stainless lite .204. The proprieter of my local gunshop who has used .222 for years on fox has ordered himself one after trying the calibre. What you experienced was probably due to defective ammo, it couldn't be anything else really. I wouldn't use Hornady vmax, the best by far are nosler varmagedons 32 grn hollow points, absolu
  6. The whole barrel length thing is a bit of a myth as far as i am concerned. A friend of mine has a remmy 26" barrel and i own two, a 20" and a 24" and i can state quite catagorically the difference between the long and short version is 150fps. How do i know? well i made the effort on three seperate occasions to go and test them with a chrono. The 26" and 24" barreled versions returned speeds of 4,250 using a 32grn home load, actually the 24" was marginally faster which isn't that surprising as 23" is the optimum length. The 20" version managed a pitifull 4,100 fps . The 150fps makes no odd
  7. They will actually start to mate in november.
  8. I wouldn't give a .223 to someone i didn't like, they are like dog shit and range rovers, one on every street corner.
  9. That is a wildfire remote the spitfire hasn't as many buttons.
  10. Only if they where OLD gods wearing loden hats and smoking pipes.
  11. You are quite right in what you say, all apart from the .222 bit
  12. I got rid of my .223 and got two .204s instead and i can honestly say i haven't had a runner with .204 but i had plenty with the .223. Having said that i have seen runners with .22.250 and .243, i don't know what the chap in the clip is using but my homeloaded 32grn rounds drop them on the spot.
  13. Dan, i don;t think you can download any calls onto the icotec 300 and the american ones aren't much use here.
  14. The .204 is a superb foxing round and also long range crows etc, but i wouldn't class it as a target round.
  15. Dog down! really? you been watching youtube? Try 40 grn in the .223, faster and flatter. I ran these in my .223 at max load and they weren't half bad.
  16. You couldn't pay me to own a Remington.
  17. I had an A bolt in .243 and was never happy with it, the triggers are dire and no amount of fettling will make it better. A spring change is the only thing that can be done but the improvement is marginal. I got rid and replaced it with a stainless Tikka T3, the best thing i could have done. Pay the extra and buy quality you won't look back.
  18. My .243 holds three and both .204s hold six, my old .223 held five as i opted for the larger capacity mag.
  19. If your going to do it right just use a .243 with 55grn bullets instead of old mens rifles.
  20. just another reason not to buy Remington.
  21. I use cheddite 36grm for everything, either through a Miroku 800 with skeet cokes or a Berretta exrema2 with 1/4 choke.
  22. Leave the guns in the cabinet when it's windy and get yourself a lurcher.
  23. Elliot, your video and anyone elses are as usefull as a dose of cholera when it comes to determining sound levels from a particular rifle, they bear no resemblance to what you hear. To compare you need both cals side by side on the same day at virtually the same time and be stood next to them. The op seems to have made his choice in spite of everyones own personal preferences and predjudices. As Deker says where do you stop, .22.250, .243, 7mm rem mag?
