  1. Why would he be pushing his luck? If he can show good reason then they have to allow it. Sorry but with a firearm they don't have to allow it, good reason is obviously a contributing factor however it's at their discretion unlike a SGC which is slightly more relaxed. I would suggest they would take into consideration the shooters experience of firearms and may initially grant a rim rife or of they grant a c/f maybe some (controversial) mentoring clause. If good reason is shown they do have to grant it unless there is good reason not to. Neither do you need to accept having a mentor

  3. First started in Lincolnshire at a turkey farm, probably fetched by a polish worker on his boots.
  4. I presume you cut the barrel. Did it affect the balance a lot? Can't use a silencer for hunting in France. No mate , didn't cut the barrel , 16" is how it came from Cz , this was the shortest they did , a great length for shooting from inside the Landy. The 452's available online in France are all full length (nearly 25"). Not allowed to shoot from a vehicle unless you're disabled - they can confiscate your car! So no mods and confiscation of the vehicle if you shoot off it, i think i will stay here, the backward onion eating f***wits. Oh and get the cz, much bett
  5. The wording is "Deemed suitable" not seemed. A typo i suspect.
  6. Good shooting even though you where shaking like a shiiting dog.
  7. Good choice I bought my .17 hornet as a hmr replacement, best thing i ever did. I don't know what the hardy mods are like though as i use a DM80 on mine.
  8. Nice to hear from you again Amir, it's been quiet on the bbs since the bannings
  9. Be very carefull buying hmr and 22.250 second hand, they may look good but the barrel could be shot out.
  10. I had a Browning in .243 and to be honest the trigger was like a rusty bog door latch. It couldn't be reworked as it was made of cast components and there where no after market triggers available for it. I am very fussy when it comes to triggers so i parted with it and bought another Tikka instead.
  11. Moral of the story is "stay off faceache and go shooting instead"
  12. Funnily enough i have tried looking through several leupolds and can never get them focused sharply, just don't suit my eyes i guess. I do like meopta scopes though and the minox i have.
  13. Were you using eley extra-waxys? I have used a few eleys but the vast majority have been winchester 40 or 42 grn subs.
  14. I have had two of these rifles and neither of them jammed once. It must be a fault with the magazine, as said strip and clean thoroughly. It is correct that the large machine screw underneath holds the barrel in place and when removed the barrel just slides forward and out.
  15. Isn't the savage a shrouded barrel?
  16. That is interesting that the 25grn bullet groups better in his rifle, what powder is he using?
  17. If you are doing a comparison then both really should be using factory ammo as a benchmark. Out of interest why does your mate use 25grn bullets when the round that was developed by Hornady is 20grn. My homeloads which are 20grn are doing a tad over 3900fps.
  18. Maybe there hiking the price taking advantage of lack of supply? It's called "taking the piss" a common practise in the uk.
  19. Well what i can say is nobody round these parts has gone for .22 hornet, but a lot of folk have ditched their hmr's and wmr's and bought cz .17 hornets. There is no drawback with the calibre as a whole, apart from the fact only three manufacturers make them but as you say that is also the case with the .22 variant. I have let several people try mine before they commit to one and all have gone straight to the gunshop and ordered one the same goes for the Tikka T3 .204 once they have shot a magazines worth they all want one. The good thing is there are so many people using them that most of the
  20. I use a .204 for my foxing with a drone pro and dragonfly, i have had to shoot a few over 300yds with it as someone else had educated them. However i would say most are between 80yds to 150yds. But i do like to use the hornet with a minox day scope for crows and such it's good fun. The ammo thing ie only hornady make it, may be something like they hold the right to make it for x years because they did the development of it.
  21. I am sure you will enjoy using it, good luck.
  22. Anything new takes a long time to become "popular" in this country for a variety of reasons some of which are, FEO'S advising new shooters, tend to stick to what they know about (which admittiedly is not very much) so they advice old calibres such as .22 hornet, .222 etc. Then you have people who would like to try a new calibre but are put off by the palava of variations etc. Then there is the cost factor if you have a .22 hornet and would like to swap to .17 hornet it is going to cost a good few hundred quid like Elliot has said he paid £150 for his .22 hornet a bargain but he would have had
  23. Take a look at the .17rem mate, the daddy of .17s He would definately have to reload for the .17 rem as ammo is like rocking horse shit.
