Due to it being forecast a dry night last night i decided i would have have a trip out foxing. I rang a mate of mine and asked if he fancied it and he did. Whenever i go with this mate we always go in his vehicle. It is a two thousand and ten plate Defender that has been modified for fox shooting. When he bought it i suggested altering the roof on the swb Defender so that it could be used to shoot out of. Well he didn't quite fancy cutting into the roof of a not so old vehicle understandably, but liked the idea. The next news was he had bought a series two roof off Ebay for fifty pounds and wa

I don't know what your budget is but if you want the best digital you need a Black ENV10. No need to take it off to use in daylight as it is perfectly good enough to shoot crows etc in bright sunlight out to 300yds. Ten times magnification and still works well in high humidity/water content when all the others will have you going home. It can handle any amount of i/r that you throw at it, absolutely no lag at all. It is the only n/v scope i know of that is truly switch it on, kill something, switch it off with no faffing at all.. Buy once cry once!

.17 HMR Fox- heart or heart shot? Plus ammo.

Ruger actually did a great deal of research on cartridges before choosing the 222 magnum as the most suitable. -

Indeed it did, and necking it down to .20 cal is the best use for for that particular cartridge.? -

.204 isn't a 22 centrefire it is a .20 calibre. -
As I suspected stav, online shopping has virtually done away with the "show price" despite what the vendor may say! I'll probably buy my nv sooner then. Still gonna go for look around the show though & buy more shit I dont need!! It isn't so much online shopping that has had an affect on "show prices" but greedy venue operators. It isn't uncommon for retailers to have to pay three thousand pounds for a table and more if the area is bigger. That sort of outlay plus shutting your business whilst at the show, travel, food and accommodation doesn't allow for goods being sold

Make them 22lr fodder by getting tucked in somewhere downwind and call them into range. -
Good shooting Stav! Shooting off the top of a vehicle certainly has advantages especially on moonlit nights. Foxes see movement before anything else. My mate that i shoot with isn't the best shot either although off the vehicle he is ok up to two hundred yards or so. It's when you have to stretch the range that he comes unstuck, i think it's a confidence thing. He always says that's too far for me you better shoot it, which i suppose is better than missing it. Problem you have now is it is educated. You cannot use the same call or try and call to the same place as it will know w

Here's my ten penneth for what its worth. Some years ago i took a bloke out on one of my permissions foxing with a lamp ( a lamp how quaint ). He was a decent shot and still is. It wasn't long before the first opportunity came in the way of a half grown cub. Now matey boy had with him an HMR because he was having some work done on his "proper" rifle. The cub was approx one hundred and ten yards from us and he shot it straight in the bib and down it went. I kept the lamp on it and a couple of seconds later it was up and staggering about. He put another three into it to kill it. We moved positio -

I know someone who shot the barrel out of a 22.250 and it only took thirty years. -

However i saw a HMR round bounce off a fox's skull one night which only succeeded in stunning it. A few seconds later it was back on it's legs and ran off like nothing was wrong with it. Hmr is a hateful little calibre and should be restricted to rabbits. -
I have a signed copy of that.

Could you add me for both please.

These are the dogs bo****ks, they improve accuracy ten fold, you will never miss again. ?

I decided to have a look about last night for a fox so rang my mate to see if he was coming. The answer was yes as it always is. Tonight i would have to use my back up rig as my normal kit has developed a problem, it will take a bit of reme dial work by a man who specialises in them. So tonight i am using another Tikka T3 supervarmint in .204 and a Gen 2 Tubed scope with a Dragonfly laser illuminator. We went to one of my favourite spots first which is on a keepered estate. After first unlocking a five barred gate we drove down a track at the side of a river for about five hundred yards

If you are old and smell of pee! ? -
Luckily enough a chap not too far away from me has started manufacturing cartridges. He has gone into it in a big way and i have used them since i tried a few boxes pigeoning in the summer. They are very fast and consistant. I use 32grm 5s and they are better than any other cartridges i have tried. At seventy pound a slab they are good value.

How can you not know if you have had a caution or not? They are very formal and part of the process is making sure you understand what it means. If i where you i would wait for all the information from ACRO, then attach a copy of it to the application form. That way you cannot be accused of not declaring anything that they may think is relevant. There is no point rushing in "half cocked" and getting a knock back.

Good shooting, it's always good not to blank. -
Keep it forever it's the only 10/22 in the world that works!?

I have a Well used Miroku 800 that did it. A few slight taps with a hammer cured it.

Personally, i stay away from anything that says Remington on it, consequently i get very little grief.?

They don't ignore the vixen on heat call.?

I don't know if it is the same but on the A bolt i had the trigger was like a rusty bog door latch and definitely not conducive to good groups. At the time i couldn't find an aftermarket trigger for it nor could it be worked on as all the components where die cast. I cured it by swapping it for a Tikka T3.

I watched it and thought it was poor, the actors where too old, it didn't work.
