That should be lesson learnt about mouse guns. Taking one for foxes is like turning up at a gunfight with a knife. Stupid boy!?

That is just like the little syndicate i am in.

I hate todays cut throat commercial shoots where no one is valued. They will be the death knell of game shooting. Places like Warter priory where thousands of birds are shot each week. The turn over of labour there is phenomenal.
-
I have seen that before and it just highlights how times have changed. When he said "i have been here forty odd fifty years and i have only had three good seasons". How long would he have lasted in todays commercial environment. Times have changed and not always for the better.

I,me thinking if you took your cap off and replaced it with a bog seat over your swede, you would stand a good chance of winning the gurning competition at Egremont.?

Some years ago i was out shooting with a mate after deer. After awhile we heard a commotion in the next field and sheep running all over bouncing off hedges and fences. We made our way over as quick as we could and saw a standard poodle worrying ewes. We phoned the farmer and he said do whatever you can to stop it the ewes are in lamb and i will be with you as quick as i can. My mate spotted the owner of the poodle just stood watching on a path. By this time one ewe was down on the ground and it had hold of another one. My mate shouted at the owner "get your dog under control" the owner said "

An interesting insight into fox movements.

I watched a litter of four cat sized cubs hunt a field last year for ground nesting birds. The lapwings where very distressed as they ate their young and eggs. I ended up shooting all four and the vixen when she came looking for them. I killed the dog the night after.

Funny old thing are cage traps. The bloke next door to me snared twenty one foxes on his hedgerow ( he has a two acre paddock )one winter a few years ago, after i had shown him how to set them. He also had a cage trap and kept it baited for two years, all he caught was a fox cub. Now, i had a very good mate who had five acres on the edge of Caterham Surrey ( who is now deceased ) and he caught foxes no problem in a cage trap. I remember him catching fourteen vixens one January about five years ago.

Well done on managing to kill the three! However i must point out farther is a distance from something. Whereas father is a parent, i suspect you meant the latter. We will let it slide this time and put it down to excitement.? ?

Well done! I have had a call from someone i shoot foxes for regularly. Apparently one of his neighbours has had a lamb killed in a building and the lamb was seven or eight weeks old. So i am thinking big dog fox feeding vixen and cubs.

Two points to note here, (A) it isn't just the old and vulnerable that are succumbing to this virus. Some young and healthy people have died including health professionals so just because you are in a certain category don't think you are safe, no one is. (B) The police still have the Corona virus legislation on their side and if the government decide social distancing must continue and i am sure they will until a vaccine is available, then they WILL enforce it. They know where all these little shoots are including the one i am in and they will go all out to check the law isn't being flouted. T

I live on the edge of a village six miles south of a town. Last year north of the town a farmer thought it would be a good idea to put a myxy rabbit or two down to clear rabbits. Well the number of lambs that all the farmers lost was phenomenal. The foxes had to feed cubs and due to no rabbits the next best thing was lambs.

It is Anschutz man ffs. If you are going to recommend a make to someone at least spell it correctly. Schultz is what you put under a car to stop it rusting, or to hide the fact that it already has.?
-
Why don't you write to channel4 and ask them. I have some views on them as well, do you want to hear them.?
-
I don't think that will be this year. This thing is going to keep coming and subsiding until a vaccine is produced. I can see social distancing having to be carried on for quite a while which will hamper shoots to the point that they aren't feasible.

I will answer because i can. If everyone had the attitude that you have about taxation where would we be. We would be like Greece they didn't like paying taxes either, in fact it was a national pastime avoiding them .
-
I am not preaching to anyone , this has gone completely off topic. I don't regard paying taxes as having my arse spanked as you call it. Whether you like it or not taxes are a necessity for running a society. No i have never put money in my pocket that hasn't been taxed because i have never done work outside that of my main occupation, i have never needed to. Back to the original post, i made my mind up about travellers a long time ago. I know three families of them that live in houses and run successful business's and they are proper people that pay their dues etc. They do not associat

Road tax as you call it never was nor is for road maintenance, it is called vehicle excise duty and is used for all sorts of services. Because people feel they get very little for their tax isn't an excuse for allowing groups of people not to pay tax. If you aren't happy with how your tax is spent take it up with the politicians.

Like i said ask them, my council hasn't.
