  1. There are a bunch of them on the farm i was silaging at last week, they are about to find out what it's like to be on the wrong end of a .204.
  2. I had a phone call last week from the bloke in our little syndicate that also has another couple of shoots that i shoot foxes on for him. The farmer had been onto him that there where two litters of cubs on the ground and could he sort it out. Anyway i couldn't go straight away as i was tractor driving on the silage. The story went that an ex gamekeeper that lives in a cottage approximately two hundred yards from a wood had seen the vixen and three cubs sat out regularly through his binoculars, fair enough. Then the farmer tells us that whilst silaging he has seen the grass flattened by a litt
  3. I would rather have pudding, chips and gravy, it lasts longer.?
  4. Which is great until it"pings" and you are twenty five miles away doing something else and now you are pissed off! Best not knowing at the time.?
  5. I think you have just had bad luck. I have half a dozen of the cheap ebay jobs and find they work well. I tend to set them on ten second video at one minute intervals. The sensitivity i normally set to medium although at some locations if there is a lot of foliage that could move in the wind i use low setting. To be honest i have found them really useful in building up a pattern of a particular fox's movements. They save me hours of hanging around just waiting. What i have found is they are sometimes susceptible to water ingress, so i make a cover for mine from old two litre milk containers.
  6. Which is fair enough, i on the other hand hate to shoot at clays. I find it as boring as golf or horse racing, in fact if the only use i had for a shotgun was shooting clays i wouldn't keep a gun.
  7. I laid some of this artificial grass for a mate of mine several years because he has trouble with his knees. I had never done it before and he told me he had read it had to be fixed it place with six inch nails. So that is what i did, is that how you did it Stav?
  8. CLAYS...CLAYS I would rather stay in and stick pins in my eyes. ?
  9. ^^^^ This really^^^^ I listened to and fell for the hype of the hmr and soon found it disappointing to say .the least. I replaced it with a .17 Hornet and i believe that particular calibre is the rifle everyone thought the hmr was going to be and wasn't. I have now parted with the Hornet due to it being awkward to load for and bought another .204 instead. I have a requirement for something in between .22 rimfire and .204 but just haven't decided how best to fill it yet. I may go another .22 Hornet.
  10. Nice fish is that, i bet it eats well.
  11. It certainly wasn't my experience with hmr in the wind but then again i wasn't shooting from a bench rested position nor did i have a "Tooned" barrel. I once went out at night with my son who wanted to try it and he is a decent shot to be fair. We where after rabbits but i had told him i don't want any body shot just head shots. The wind was fairly strong and gusting he eventually managed to shoot four but a lot of complete misses. His verdict at the end of the night was that" i should walk to the nearest pit and throw the useless piece of shit into it". I really couldn't disagree.
  12. Both my .204s have 20" barrels and run 32grn bullets at circa 4,200fps, fast enough for ya?
  13. How many foxes have you shot with a .17 hornet or a .22 hornet?
  14. Is that expensive for good quality engineering? I personally don't think so. I want the best available tools for the job because i know it pays off in the end, but each to their own.
  15. .17 Hornet is an awkward cartridge to load for, nowhere as easy as .22 Hornet for loading. It is a two hundred yard max fox round and i would expect to be looking for quite a few runners if shot at that range, even with good shot placement. Did you notice how slick the bolt was on that Savage rifle...not! ? like rodding a blocked drain!
  16. I haven't seen those mounts before but i will give you a word of warning about the bloke that runs that company. His name is Clive Ward and he is renowned for not contacting you for weeks or months. It takes forever to get anything off him. There is another chap that sells a fully windage and height adjustable mount specifically for the Pard 008. He goes under the name of Kevgun his actual name is Kevin Gundry. Anything this bloke does is very well engineered. I have just had one of his custom mounts made for my Drone pro x10 and it is superb. There is a video on youtube showing
  17. This is true, it would become the new norm. Because it is nothing to do with anyone else where i am going. Do i ring them and say i am going to watch the football or going fishing etc? Some forces have behaved disgracefully during this virus lockdown showing they cannot be given more powers. Since the start of all this i have carried on controlling foxes. I have travelled alone, met nobody at the venue done what i have to do and travelled home on my own.
  18. That looks like a substantial piece of equipment.
  19. I didn't think that scum like that was tolerated in Ireland, or is it just in the north?
  20. Piers Morgan was editor of a newspaper that printed fake photographs of British soldiers torturing Iraqi's. He is a scumbag!
  21. .308 Is nothing more than a ruined .243.?
  22. .203 eh! i'll have to try one of those. Is it a new wildcat calibre??
  23. Who mentioned Hornet? Stav is using a hmr A.K.A mouse gun. The only issue i have with hmr is i saw two foxes wounded one night with one and the lad was a good shot. It is a long story that i won't bother with but it put me off hmr for fox to the point that i won't let anyone use one that i invite to my permissions. Hornet of either calibre cannot be compared to hmr, one is rimfire the others are centre fire and bear no resemblance to each other. What i can tell you from experience is .17 hornet is marginal on fox at 200yds. Even with a well placed shot a runner is most likely th
  24. Pigeons take a great deal less stopping than a fox, unless they have kevlar vests under them feathers.
