  1. I will decide what i need not you. Rabbits aren't such a problem here that i have to shoot hundreds or thousands so i like to head shoot them at three or four hundred yards. It is good practise for when i have to shoot foxes at similar distances and i only have a partial target. Shame you don't do it then you wouldn't of made a mess of the rabbit with your ruined 243. 204 isn't such a marmite calibre as you call it in these parts. I know of at least a dozen lads who have chopped in their 223s for a 204. Why? because they are shooting at extended ranges at night out of necessit
  2. It costs me forty pence to load a round, a price i am more than willing to pay if i don't have to use a HMR. Damn it would be cheap at twice the price to avoid it! ?
  3. It is a centrefire based on a 222 magnum case and superior than either a 17 or 223 imho.
  4. I tend to favour one of my 204s over any grimfire.?
  5. I have access to Roe, Sika and Fallow around home. I also have a place in Scotland via a relation for Roe and Red. I tend to stick to Roe as they are easier to manage once killed. I do get pestered off a mate who is a farmer to go and thin the Sika out for him but i usually leave him to deal with the carcasses.
  6. It is a shame Jack Charlton didn't live long enough to see it.
  7. I wonder if you are over leading birds with the nitro powders. Maybe if you are used to slower burning black powder and giving pigeons the same lead you may be in front of them.
  8. To be quite honest deer do nothing for me at all. I wouldn't dream of going stalking, although there are plenty of deer on land i shoot on. I usually shoot them whilst out foxing if my or the families freezer is getting low. I put the 30/06 in the truck and go foxing a bit earlier if i see one i want to shoot i do so. I sometimes use a buttolo to call them in but i must admit i don't get any excitement out of it at all, in fact i regard it as a chore, just a means to put meat in the freezers.
  9. The first bit yes i agree with but walking about with an HMR,?, i would rather stay in and stick pins in my eyes.
  10. That would be the highlight of any clay shoot for me. Hitting the knob next to me squarely in his lug hole whilst he is stood there in his clay cartridge vest holding his Krieghoff. Oh the sheer joy of it!?
  11. Don't do it, i will send you some lotion for the itch!?
  12. I tend to shoot them side on but if the only shot is face on then i will take it.
  13. That is a cracking day and a very good shot to kill ratio.
  14. I very nearly always neck shoot them. They drop on the spot, so none of that trawling about looking for something that has been heart/lung shot. Also like you i don't care one bit for trophies, so if the only shot available was a head shot then old ronnie roe would of had a rearranged swede.
  15. You should of sent it back they do a very good thirty year warranty.
  16. I do so hope this doesn't become an eleven page epic with excuse after excuse. ?
  17. Nothing is more personal than a scope, due to everyones eyes being different. Amongst those scopes that aren't a fortune but are very good in low light are Minox, Meopta and the 8x56 schmidt and bender.
  18. The title of the video is wrong from the first word, they are not "people" they are feral scrotes!
  19. Ninety five percent i shoot from the back of the truck. An odd time i might have to change position to either the bonnet or standing on the door sill either side.
  20. My dog box with padded rifle /gun hooks.
  21. This is how it is fixed to the car.
  22. You will probably find your dog will be better off having a bit of age about it before running than running pups at five or six months old.
