  1. I think 2x collie grey, would be a better alrounder for most people, plus with the 1/4 collie more a running dog than a thinking dog. . How clever as it got to be to pick a rabbit up, ive got a 1x collie grey, and that much collie can some times work against a lurcher. BIRD
  2. YES , lamping all the Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy BIRD
  3. Spot on. plus if you have a keen dog, when you hold it back while the other dog as a run, they can go mad to get to the beam and even yaping , its ok as long as your mate and his dog know the score I go on my own most times. BIRD
  4. Spot on , mine was 1 hare, 8 rabbits, 2 foxes. It was with my old bitza bitch she was 25ins 55lb, ive had more rabbits in a night , but the above i think was a better bag. plus when you have to carry the feckers on your own, i know its not alot, but its enough for me. BIRD
  5. The Boxerx is very popular OZ. I think the line they use is differnt to what you have in the U.K. Thet use boxerxs on pigs, and they do a good job Ithink its boxerx pitx a.c.d. or kelpie. BIRD
  6. Hi Dougie, yes nice to see ya and your mate, thats a nice A bulldog he as there. Your pup is looking good, the mrs thought your pup was just right, with just right amount of bull in him. Thanks about bryn like i said some 1xcollie greys can be powerful strong dogs. They might not be the fastest lurchers, but they have good stamina and will run all day and night for you. look after your self. BIRD
  7. I would not bother, dalmation's can be hard to train and some weimarner's can be a bit sharp. Thats the ones ive seen, if you were going to use diffrent x go for racey 1x lab now that would be a good x. BIRD

  11. Spot on, my pup is a twat for it, when he jumps up me ha gets a knee in the chest. I keep him on the lead when i meet people, its when they go to stroke him he is quick up at them. When you say to them, stick your feckin knee in him. they think you are a nutter My pup a colliex grey is 24 1/2 ins 54lb, he is a big fecker. Its made him think twice about jumping up me, but you carnt with other people can you. BIRD
  12. If you want to get your mind and soul into a book [ Oliver Twist 1839 Charles Dick'ens] bull's eye thats what you call a pit BIRD
  13. Thats a shame, seems all the rich ect, own all the land in the Uk and dont want anyone on their what so ever?... Do you think aswell, its a case of their is a lot of folk already lamping ect on the land? Sort of first come first serve thing? What about leaving a card with them ect? Frank, they just doint want a lurcher on the ground, eg i went to farmer one day, i had good gear on and was polite. And doint forget iam 55, and i have been around a bit and i know how to talk to people. I asked if he had a rabbit problem, that i could do it for him day or night. And could
  14. Its always been the same everywere, knock on doors doint say you got a dog and you are ok, knock on doors and say you have a dog[ and say a lurcher] you have no feckin chance Ive always said in hunting , after 25years+ there is them and there is us. It will never change BIRD

  17. I am 55 and i have had a bad back 30years, two things that help, is keep your weight down and try to have a good posture. [ stand up straight]. And when you are having a bad turn get them feckin pain killers in you, doint try to fight it. BIRD
  18. What makes it worse , is that greyhounds are a very gentle loving dog, that likes man . man as a lot to answer for BIRD
  19. Not that i am intersted in Alsation blooded lurchers (cant really see the point).I ampretty sure that is tosh about the hips on an alsation cross, if you were to breed an alsation to a greyhound for example, you would get your hybrid vigour and idont think you would get your bad points like hips A 2x would be a better dog, better hips and faster. Doint forget greyhounds will do foxes easy, so you would have more than enough G.S.D in there. BIRD
  20. I got one for my night stalker and my bitch who is still learning her night time trade was appauling when i used it, she wouldnt even look down the beam. as soon as i lost the filter she started catching. it maybe because she is young and still learning but i dont use them. most folk spot the quarry using the red and run the dog on the white.. YES BIRD
  21. Take the pup own is own, you have got a one to one with the pup, not with a nother dog there.????? BIRD

  25. Yes Frank, BEFORE saluki hybrids, the deerhoundxgreyxcolliexgrey. They were good hare dogs, they were popular in the 70s. If you can get a good one , they will take anything. In Ted Walsh book[ Lurchers and Longdogs] he rates the deerhoundxgreyxcolliexgrey very highly. I saw one work day+night, good on hares, rabbits, and smashed foxes easy. and a good deer dog pre ban. They were definitely the x before saluki hybrid. BIRD
