  1. now a bloke told me this last year, he was putting in my new oil tank, we got talking about the amount of rats i get in my garden. Next doors keep, horses , alpacas, few sheep, so they have bit of food there side knocking about, but fookin rats come my side as well, i told the bloke ive shot few, but like been said rats soon become bit nervy , if they know your about. he told me to get 2 pieces timber about 3 foot long and 2ft high, knock them up together , put all sticky bait on bottom and side , and lets the rats feed there, give it 2 -4 days, and the rats will go there, they be stuck a b
  2. nice dogs , and going back to pure greyhound , could put bit of height/speed back in to the pups. my big 1x gsd x grey , his sire 29in razzmatazz distance greyhound a good dog, my dog made 28in and strong with it. i like 1x pit x greys if from good stuff, but you need lot of work for a x like that i reckon, ive seen couple of very good dogs when i was lamping few years ago, they were pit x grey x saluki x grey double bred, run all night long, and take what ever you put them on, these were 26 - 27 in dogs, this was mid 80s , very good lurchers. you got any saluki in your breeding , or is it j
  3. got me thinking with sandy post snow coursing , like said on the post , by me the ground like bell iron, hard to walk on never mind run a lurcher, but i know some types xs do seem to have better feet than others. i think the saluki type xs , and colliexs throw good feet , my old dog bryn 1x collie x grey 13 and had long working life , dont think he ever had any feet probs in that time , Buck my1x gsd xgey he the same 8 year old got good feet on him, worse feet in lurchers was my pit xs , there feet took alot more stick , than my other lurchers , ive always liked drop of bull in a lurche
  4. spot on, funny thing i was thinking how some people would run a dog with this very cold spell we got right now. i know people land will be different, but even open land you still get mole hill etc, dog it them its game over bust feet, wrists , by me the ground like bell iron , it hard walking on it, never mind run a lurcher .?

  7. thats bad luck with your one pup Tomo , what will you do get rid of it to a pet home .? dogs/ pups are going for daft prices right now, spoke to bloke yesterday who bred a litter of working welsh springer spaniel , they went for £ 2 grand a pup , 8 pups think he said all went to working homes, forget fookin lurchers, it gundogs you need today lol

  9. true that above, my grandfather was boxing champion in the army, was prob be called a light heavyweight to day 12st 10lb , same weight as me today. he had many scraps with blokes 2-3 st heavier than him , outside the ring, he put couple blokes in hospital , 1 poor bloke died this was just after 2nd ww , he was only 5ft 8in but nearly that far across, built like a fookin tank, i seen him just before he died , he had parkin's disease , but they thought he was punch drunk in them days, yeh some men can pack real power no matter how big there are deff .
  10. yeh read that last night, really enjoyed it, its hard to believe Dempsey only weighted 190lb unless ive got that wrong, if it right he wasnt even a cruiser 13st 7lb , he must have had some power in his hands/ body to dish that injury's out, maybe Gnash or mick knows bit more about him .? .

  12. my mate, used to have 1/4 beadie/border 3/4 grey a Hancock dog, big fawn 27in dog in the 80s, it caught daytime hares , kill foxes, and get good bag of rabbits , a nice what call a normal type temp, none of this over sensitive manic temp , like you get with lot of 1x collie x greys, yeh very good dog to be around and work. actually just got of the phone to him, not spoke for couple years, we were talking about that dog he had , it died cancer 8 year old, he got a old type whippet x grey x collie now, we both agreed a 1/4 collie plenty in a lurcher , i should imagine same with the acd 1

  16. well a bloke on here done very well with this type x , for lamping and mooching rabbits, suppose if you wanted quicker type dog , maybe cattle dog x grey x whippet x grey , or back to coursing type dog. my self i not keen on the herding type xs, but i reckon the acdx would be a better x than the border or kelpie , but thats just me other people might think different lol
  17. well, only ever had once , at a paki wedding , the girl used work with my wife at adult collage , so got the invite to the wedding , and what great wedding it was, the goat curry was very nice, had poppa domes, with it and plenty of drink all free all night as well, real good night.
  18. Spot on, lot of people who kept, staffs, apbts, liked to parade round with them on there dogs lol. We had bull breeds in the 60s, and them feckers would pull your arm, just with collar/lead, never mind a harness, all they do as said above incourage a dog to pull, because they pull from the shoulders, and not the neck which some dogs are not keen on, but our staffs and pit would still bloody pull anyway lol. Funny thing I did think few times putting one on Buck when he was younger when lamping, as that twat take me off me feet if seen his quarry, he was very hard to hold back, trigger would s
  19. I've got one, I take it next time, have a crack at 'um?
  20. Yeh it was, your spot on it was, I don't take him, he better off on this walk, and I can enjoy more with out the worry of losing the little bugger lol
  21. That's , just what he like, soons he sees something or sent it, he off, on that other walk, he gone for alot of it on his own, then all of a sudden he come flat out behind what ever he after, norm old Bryn will watch him then follow him, I don't bring little woody on that walk, he not keen on thick cover etc but that's OK as this walk suits him better. But your right Buck knows it only holds tree rats and few birds, so plods along lol
  22. No not on this walk, it just local where you get few dog walkers, but my other walk you don't get many people, and get few munjack and odd fox, Buck norm knock somthing up on that walk, suppose why he just chills on this walk, and not the other.
  23. , had nice walk this morning with dogs on my local walk. The lurchers just plodding along as normal, not doing much, but little woody was nonw stop for a 1/2 hour, chasing tree rats, and birds haha, he got more life about than them bloody pair, and he not that young about 10-11 year old. Lol
