  1. Im still pondering. not made any decisions yet.... MY 10D is having problems though... so it will have to come soon. Any using a 600 D
  2. Just to clarify your comments with regard to 35gr vmax over 13 gr lil gun.. This is a perfectly safe and tested load, on small rifle primers. It was a little ambiguous in the above post.
  3. always used small rifle primers ma sel. 13gr lil gun on a 35gr VMAX hole on hole at 100 yards...
  4. i use Harkila Prohunter, top and bottoms, and meindle dovre. Im out in the worst of the weather, and it always works for me. The downside is the weight. It nots lightweight stuff.
  5. I currently run a 10 year old EOS 10D, which I love, it was no an inconsiderable purchase as £1200 body only.... Its 6 MP and produces great pics. But the time has come to upgrade to be honest. I think im going to have to stick to EOS because Ive a couple of pro lenses i wish to retain. So my options are EOS 60D or EOS 7D I want to spend a little money as possible..... Thoughts from people that have these cameras please.. I went for a look at at 60D and was a little dissapointed that it wasnt Mag alloy body. its plastic... My10D has lasted really well, and feels really go
  6. stuff eaten from the back end screams of Badger..???
  7. Even if I am wrong and I would be the first to appologise if I was proven to be and some of your warrens actualy genuinely do consist of 500 holes, your explanation of holding both the dogs back on leads because "having two dogs held back to slip is far better than even two good ferreting dogs over the warren as they just cannot postion themselfs in the right place" just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. One good ferreting dog w ill be in the right place most of the time because if it's in the wrong place too often it ain't a good ferreting dog is it?. Think your getting me mixed
  8. Best you get you supply of caffeine ready then, cause somebody on the internet is wrong.................
  9. Guys its like this... I have a dog that works in the manner that you expect it too, a true ferreting dog of the highest calibre.... I have another dog, that works off the slip, when and if I choose to let her... It my choice... its my opinion... I enjoy working both dogs in he styles they work... The younger bitch has never been and out and out ferret dog... She excels at lamp work... but that does not mean I wont take her out ferreting with me,...
  10. if you cant enjoy your sport how you choose...........give up...its not a science ..
  11. For me it depends on the experience/style of the dog.... My older bitch works unaided on the warrens, she decides what to run, and where to wait....... she never disturbs nets etc... My young bitch is held back and slipped....but here style may alter as she gets older.... Whether or not we use nets depends on where we are ferreting... cover...no cover.... pest control.....or fun...
  12. you could be right Lab , dont know if its because they prob fresher by the old sea side , but they do seem to taste better at these places lol Its a lovely wee place mate....could well be the quickness of the fish from sea to shop. Either that they have a secret and not letting on. The batter is nice and crispy, never soggy and the chips are chunky and fresh, always. They have photos of Prince Charles stopping of there for a fish supper when William was at University at St Andrews...also Tom Hanks as well has been in...........wonder if they had to wait 45 mins...?.. 13. If you are buying potatoes this time of year, you are right in between new and old potato seasons. So you have a couple of choices.. There are some very good imported Maris Piper about at the minute and some very good imported Marfona. If you are buying old crop potatoes, (which incidentally there is nothing wrong with them) you should be looking for Maris Piper, Cara, King Edward or any of the other High Dry Matter Potatoes. These will give you that nice dry, fluffy texture. Avoid Harmony, Nadine, Kestrel and some of the other generic white potatoes. These are grown and packed for yield
