My plummer will retrieve anything she catches to me but i don't shoot so never worked her to a gun as such but have known a few other lads who's plummers were also peg dogs when they shot,mine can work with ferrets,nets,bush and she'll also go to ground to work a fox.Just once a good few years back i dug to her on a rabbit but she's never entered a rabbit bury after a rabbit since,but if your not into digging then breaking them to a fox ain't much different than any stock breaking imo ..

Maybe it's going to be just one of those years for some of us and a few i know who have got going have had a iffy start to there seasons.Have to say if these chaffies make it and i get a few redpolls then that'll do me and a bully chick would be a nice cherry on top ,but i ain't holding my breath on that one

I rung my chaffie chicks today (ok with the wrong rings and yes i need new specs ) but all is good with them and i'll try to get some pics up this weekend,also 2 redpolls chicks in one nest but lost the other nest in the week but feck all from anything else though....

It's a hobby to test us all at some point francolin,but it does seem to balance itself out and we get there in the end.Fingers crossed for you and good luck..

Own a aussie cattle dog and you have an animal allmost as clever as you are and they can sure test the patients at times .I had a pure bitch at mine to whelp a litter of lurchers and also had a few game birds at the bottom of the garden and a ferret court/aviary full of ferrets,the acd used to sit and watch the chooks for hours wanting to get stuck it but knowing she'd get it if she did.Well one night i heard my chooks going mental and went out to look what was up and the acd bitch had pulled the wire on the ferret court and released them,they then went and had some ferrety fun with my chook

Breeding And Showing The Lesser Redpoll.

I'm very fond of my redpolls and there a funny little bird to watch going about their lives,allways up to something and i'm trying a comunal breeding thing this year with 4 hens (cinny and isabel) and 3 cocks (cinny isabel and normal split for isabel)all in a aviary together and have 2 hens down and there due to hatch this week.. -
Well there all alive still and various sized mealworms and buffalo worms at the moment but tomorrow i'll go shake a few branches over a upturned umbrella and see what other creepy crawlys i can find for them,little tip if your live food scampers off a bit quick is to put it in a fridge for 10 mins or so and that slows them right down so the birds get a chance at tidying them up ...

But nice one folks and updates on his progress will happen no worries about that ,he's been no bother during the night in a cage and apart from him wanting to hump my foot and his keeness on biting a toe or two all is good with him.. Went over to Taz's yesterday to pick up my introduction to the darkside and what a fine little fella he is to ,a totaly upfront confident pup that is in absolute first class nick even though it was half starved on wheatabix for a bit .I really can't say thanks enough for not only the pup but a few other things that he didn't have to give me and i owe you big time mate ,he's settling in just fine apart from the little fecker has just bit my toe ..
