It isn't going great for me either mate,i lost all 3 chaffie chicks when they fledged and 2 were coloured, but she's down on 2 more eggs and i'll hand rear them this time.Got a bully hen down at last on 4 eggs and my redpolls have kicked in and have 2 to sticks and 3 nests with young un's in and another hen that has just laid again,it's the weather that has messed my lot up and it's still raining and cold one hour and sunny the next and the poor buggers just don't know what to make of it.Tell you what Meroman it is sure emotional keeping these native birds but when it comes off there's no feel

He took to the lead straight away and he was out and about seeing plenty of the world and what it holds as soon as his jabs kicked in,he's bred right and work should come natural to him so it's down to me to teach him his manners in life .

He was 12 weeks (i think) last weekend and a little update on his progress,he's a out going little so and so and apart from a little touch of lunging for cars and attacking the hoover that was soon sorted all is going great guns with him. He's easy going and a chilled out fella who settles where ever he is and not a lot causes him alarm,he as every terrier pup should be is into everything but hasn't chewed a thing he wasn't given to chew and with 3 kids in the house and the cost of shoes that's a fecking god send .He's called "Bomber" (if he'd have been brown or chocolate he'd have been calle

This pup i got from Taz flew into the hoover the first few times it was used around it,he also flew at cars on the road when he first started going out, with a LITTLE dissapline and a reasuring touch he now totaly ignores the hoover ,don't even flinch at a tractor going close past him on the lead. It's piss easy lee and your just trying the old aggressive bollocks to cover up your short commings with terriers. You had a chance with a good little bitch who'd have taught you so so much but you couldn't/wouldn't/won't take the time to learn the trade properly and were looking far to far ahead mate a

Are Aussie cattle dogs native? Not at all but i didn't used to call myself or my dog coursers and sally was not a particularly chosen target for her and DB there's many native breeds and their crosses that can be and have een used to catch a hare but like you say these days its all about making a name for yourself and killing,no matter what folk say to walk into a field with a saluki x is not taking it to old puss on a level playing field imo.As for summer hunters they won't ever be anything but folks with dogs and not dog men..
-
A lot of folk with picky chosen morals i recon as if it really mattered to you you'd all be running a native dog against a native hare and not these desert long distance runners bred to run down a sprinting animal .Your all cheating imo ...

What a shame a good little dog who was prepared to give her all ended up with someone who wouldn't do the same for her..
-
Good luck with the quest lads ........
-
My plummer will retrieve anything she catches to me but i don't shoot so never worked her to a gun as such but have known a few other lads who's plummers were also peg dogs when they shot, mine can work with ferrets, nets, bush and she'll also go to ground to work a fox.Just once a good few years back i dug to her on a rabbit but she's never entered a rabbit bury after a rabbit since, but if your not into digging then breaking them to a fox ain't much different than any stock breaking imo ..
