Good result as usual mate .Better ease up now or there'll be nothing left for breeding stock

On Tuesday ,i was lucky enough to get an invite to a local estate to help in the culling of the fallow herd .Without going into too much detail or numbers ,i managed 3 .One of which,a head shot was a bit too graphic for a pic .We were given a peg number and i drew a high seat just inside the main wood .It was very apparent why the cull was needed as the browse line was such that when stood, you can see from one end of the 150 acre wood to the other ? The deer were gently moved around and i saw the entire herd of 450 trot past me before i got a shot at some tail enders .Some cracking bucks

This one fell for a cheese and tomato sandwich in brown bread and a dash of mayonase! . A while ago i had a long run of trapping rats in my unit where i store building materials and keep the ferrets .The unit is amongst a complex of others but im the only one with rats it appears .The owner ,in his wisdom ,has partly clad the ends and backs that face his house with brickwork which leaves openings at the cavity ends that are prime rat real-estate as the insultion is on show.Anyway, last night i saw a fecker run along the front of my unit and into the gap by the sliding door .So much junk and p

Ditch mate -If its arm chair hunters and keyboard warriors that annoy you then dont look my way .I personally dont know you ,never met you so can only judge by what you post on here .Ive never, to my knowledge ,seen a post from you with a result attached to it .That maybe because you decide not to post pics of deceased critters but you will see from my history that im no messer .Ive visited people and places before that are meant to be devoid of certain critters and have found them on 99.9 % of my visits .I am in no way saying you are wrong as like i said ,i dont know you ,but sometimes we can

Please excuse my ignorance but is there still a market for the pelts ,does anyone still bother,or has that market gone along with the rest?.

Frustrating as it is ,this post sums it up for me .Brian seems to think ,at the present time ,that people who have a name in the' business' owe him something, present day.20 years ago they did but im afraid repect has gone as far as present day work is concerned .I was lucky to know the chap when he was handy with a spade ,when he was producing the goods for work. Its time he stopped talking about the old times, long gone dogs and admitted loosing the best line of terrier blood ever produced IMO. As pickaxe said though ,nearly all the lines in existance today owe something to Brians root stock

Excuse me if im covering old ground here but -Any body buying a pup off one of the big name breeders has more to worry about than size .Its a well known fact that some of them breed from what they take back on a 'money back 'scheme .Thats to say if you had a dog that wasnt working by 2 1/2 ,they will refund the money BUT what happens to that dog .If its a good looker you can bet its bred from and the cycle starts again .I keep nuttal old stuff from way back and trying to find suitable outcross is a nightmare to the point of having to look elsewhere . My point is -Anybody thinking of buying a

Just to add that my mate had a look for the one i shot and apparently missed and found it stone dead another 50 yards on from where we looked for it ,half in and half out of a stream .Barely a graze was visable to the eye but it died none the less .That brings the tally to a nice -SIX.Sorry no pics of this one . -
What a night !Picked up a mate at 7.30pm and headed to a small farm i have .We had the amber filter on here and set off into the wind .On the lower fields i made out the eyes of at least 8 deer but they wernt hanging around for a closer look Stood on a tump overlooking a big water meadow and squeaked .A set of eyes appeared in the far distance but over the river and charlie started running to us fast .A couple more squeaks and it was committed ,any more and you run the risk of spooking them i find .Anyway it kept coming flat out a disappeared behind some willows on the river bank .A soft squ

The point made by someone else that foxes are vermin apparently is not correct .According to my fao ,they have been put in a category of their own purposefully to prevent the wholesale use of the .22 rimmy for fox control .Shooting foxes without it saying fox on your ticket is a violation but........................

Digital callers .lol.Ditch has only just mastered the art of dodging that second gate .Get some practice in with a propper squeak ,made by your voice mate before going down the 'lazy road'.Dont know if you do mate but heres some advice -Try varying the times you go out .These roadside poachers are probably stuck in a set time and set route ,if theve not been challeged and you want to get away from that .Foxes are very tuned to what we do .Their lives and indeed there survival ,depends on avoiding us to a certain extent and by changing your time to later ,much later in fact you will definately

Very well explained mate .Ive not got the time or experteze for snaring but i appreciate those of you that do ,and do it well .Do you ever use multi -sets on the logs or do you have more than one access to a bait station ?.

We were out all day Sunday ,doing the rounds of the earths on a local estate. We tried for a mark all morning but although a few places stank to to human nose ,the terriers said no .Fresh draw was everywhere and padding to match but you have to trust the dogs .We walked further than wed ever bin on this estate ,looking for that one earth that would hold .As we rounded a bank i saw a fox jump out the dead bracken but of course it skipped over every hole in its bid to put distance between us.Only had the .410 so a shot was out the question at that range .Back to the keepers house and he said to t

David- Ive had the .222 for a long time now and rate it highly for fox work .Extremely accurate round . -
There is another diagnoses to this .You need to take the scab off to find out but if theres a hard ,yellow lump underneath ,then its the symptoms of an allergy to something .Maybe food related ,maybe bedding related .The vet will need to take a scrape to find this out .IF that is the vet is a compitant one .
