  1. It makes me sad to think that the younger generation are scared to meet people because of this anti shit .You need to ask them questions about their sport and what their opinions are on certain aspects of it .Antis ,or messers for that matter, can always be tripped up on something simple .If in doubt ,ask about .Someone in the game will of heard of them ,good or bad .I find that people who talk too much are to be avoided ,but thats just me .
  2. Went down to Martins ground yesterday by kind invitation for a stalk on his permission .Anyway to cut a long a long story short i missed a shot at a doe not once but 3 times .I have been blaming the scope for sometime now so i stopped on the way home for a bit of one to one at a target . Back at my ground i decided to try a shot at a broken fence post with a good back drop and damn me if i didnt shoot the knot straight out the back of the post .Dont know why i did it but i glanced through the scope with my left eye and feck me what a difference .It was then plain to me that my right eye is f
  3. Roe have definately boomed mate .Personally ,i attribute some of there success to the upsurge in fox control after the ban on fox hunting with dogs .
  4. Perhaps he has a new girlfriend and wants her to smell like the old one
  5. Well ,thats just made you look a twat .Few weeks in jail You are looking at 6 months or a £6000 fine or both if your very stupid .No ,the right thing to do is check it out .
  6. Just to put a perspective on this ,we KILL EVERYTHING we dig ,mainly because that is why we are there .There is no shame in admitting this as seems to be the norm on here .We are very lucky in that we have an abundandance of foxes to dig/bolt every year .We are not there to show off our dogs to the landowner or each other .If the dog dosnt make the grade in what is deemed as a good enough period then one day it dosnt come home ,simple .We give the quarry no law ,no sporting chance .It is despatched as soon as possible in a humane way .Seasons are observed to a point but we ALWAYS attend call
  7. Dont care if i come across as a clever c**t 'cos i am but there is more to verifying a place than the shape of the hole or indeed bedding ,which ,just for the record is not changed nightly at all .Old badger settes will have remains of bedding outside which is only an indicator that it was ONCE an active sette .Fresh bedding is a sure indicator of currant use which in conjunction with pad marks in and out can be taken as gospel and will land you in the shit if caught with a dog in and digging .However ,the law in its present rediculous form states that anywhere a badger lives ,however temporar
  8. Always a joy to be out doing a service with good company and good dogs .
  9. The keeper had asked us to have a last look out to see if what he was seeing on the lamp was resident or not .It was a cold day Saturday so what better time to catch charlie in .We were to try an earth on the boundary that runs alongside an old railway that is a regular walk for dog owners so an early start was in order .The earth runs for 60 yards and has 14 holes ,is deep about 4.5 metres,so a bolt was really wished for!No sign for 15 minutes so a look with the bellman which revealed the dog was still moving fast .A fox bolted and pulled the net peg from the sandy ground and ran along the ba
  10. Nice going mate .You have to look after those who look after you .
  11. Couple of the older bitches .One on the left is 9 and still going strong and the other is 6 .Both 100% on fox .
  12. Had the phone call last night from an unhappy farmer to ask if we could have a look round the organic sheds for a fox .Several chickens have been taken in the daylight and it now has to stop .We arrived at 9.33 pm and it was like daylight but from experience i know this matters not .A shine around revealed a fox running from one of the sheds with a chicken in its mouth no less .Caught in the act ,bang to rights .I knew if i shouted or squeaked it would be gone big time .My mate had brought a selection of calls from cubs in distress to hare screams .One by one i tried these but the fox was' nt

  14. Just for the record -The doe was shot on my land with martin as a guest. The gloves were worn as a matter of good practice by myself .Deer carry diseases that we humans can pick up .Lymes disease being one of them .Having studied the link kindly provided ,i have to agree as what they are but ive not seen the like before . The only placenta ive seen has been the usual heavy veining .The lymph nodes were checked and were ok and im sure Martin has pics of these too . Anyone else come across this? .
  15. The worst dig we ever had was 4 year ago at the bottem of a banking .Marked a hole that wed done many a time before but always had a bolt from .I remember it now like it was yesterday but until this thread started it was one of those times that get put to the back of your mind and blanked for the sake of your sanity The hole was what is known locally as a swallow hole ,it drains the surrounding fields and ditches in times of hard rain .Never gave it a thought that it may rain or even cloud over as it was a perfect clear, November day .Entered a terrier at 10.30 after netting the single hole
  16. Well said mate .For a predominantly rabbitting dog then a hare at night is a worthy opponent .I prefer to shoot them however as my little bitch is too old. lol.
  17. Many farmers around me will happily give out 200 cartridges for lads to shoot at pigeons ,providing you do them a propper service .I'm not into pigeon shooting enough for that but loads of lads do .Most of my stalking is done on the undertanding that i do the foxes too Its a hard life but ...........Never paid for nowt except a bottle or two at christmas .Once you get yourself a good name locally its usually the other way round with landowners contacting you to see if you want to control this or that ,at least thats what happens here .
  18. Nice one foxy .You have a good partnership going there ,seeing as you cant shoot straight.lol.
