    Berries nuts and fruit aplenty ,may be a sign of a bit of the white stuff to come .I see the fieldfares are here in number now and started on the hedgerow berries .Out stalking tomorrow with the stalker on my ground so hope to see a few roe .

    '.Dont overdo the aniseed mate. Maize ,wheat and a touch of aniseed in one of Martins pipe feeders but lash it tight as they will knock it about.Molasses on the ground works too

    Poached from under my nose ,had a bead on it too,tree in the way, doh. Good specimen too for its age judging by the teeth.Proper little haven that 12 acres and hope to see my own stag there one day .Well done Matt and you know the score .....he who shoots it drags it .You forgot to mention the yellow retriever with a red face after gorging on the gralloch ,lol.

    One thing very noticeable was the fact that the sika stags stopped calling after the first morning .Pre dawn they were calling all over the woods on the first day but from then on silence .They could be induced but didnt call of their own free will .Very switched on animal to be respected in that enviroment .I also saw a goshawk right up behind a blackbird when sat in the seat at the larger ground .A male i thought and he ploughed into the fir emerging empty handed ,flew off screaming.Heard and saw a few grouse at the other place ,one right inside the fir too.Plenty of pine martin scat about a

    Hopefully Arron will get pics up later .What a way to start a trip though .Ive shot sika but never a stag so i too was proper made up for him and had to laugh when he described stalking past Tony to get the red stag .Id impressed beforehand how important it was to put these stags on their arses where they stood to avoid any lengthy follow ups ,something he took on board evidently.That quad of Johns is the biz mind ,go anywhere .The pricket i had was unlucky really as he hadnt yet learnt to keep right up behind mother .Two hinds and two prickets crossed to my left only yds away downhill with t
