    One i overheard whilst waiting in shopping queue.........a rather snotty lady said to a chap in front as he was struggling to put all his shopping on the counter so as not to mix it with the previous customers....... She said "Oh where were you when the brains were handed out?" He replied......"     Rats are noted for their neophobia or new object reaction.....IE very suspicious of anything new in there environment. Young immature greys can be caught relatively easily in cages, but the mature adult rats are another matter entirely. I never use cages for rat control nowadays.......preffering anticoagulants.....or cunningly disguised Fenns. Rolfe.

    Well fellow mole catchers i have surpassed myself this morning by beating my exsisting speed trapping record of 3 minutes.........in fact i beat it by a full 1 and a half minutes............and never used a trap. Let me explain I was called in to remove a single mole that had just started to encroach on to some rugby pitches. There was a single line of tumps (mole hills to the initiated) that ran on to the pitch. Selecting a point halfway along the run i dug out a square of turf to set the Talpex trap.     In my experience most farmers plead poverty but like most of us they want to pay as little as possible. I always give them two options..........price for the entire job........or by the hour (TIME SPENT ON THE GROUND). Never say you will clear every mole (fatal) they will have you going back for evermore for nowt. I usually have a good idea how long it will take me to clear a job up...........and tell them i will come for X amount of days for a set price. What you decide to charge depends on what value you put on your time. Rolfe.

    Hiya All just wondered if anyone had noticed an increase in mink activity these last couple of weeks........? I have had four reported sightings from some lakes i regularly trap.......it has been quiet for some time now. They will be "Running" looking to breed soon......maybe they have started early in my area! Rolfe.

    Thanks for acting so promptly Ian........unfortunately people who take pleasure in these sadistic postings will, from time to time, slip in through the back door. It saddens me as someone who has been involved in pest control all my life to see these barbaric acts put up as " Entertainment" for like minded morons. Rolfe.
