Hi John, You don't say what you will be using the gun for mainly but it is all down to what choke as to what pattern any gun throws. Most s/s game guns are choked 1/2 and full but i had mine bored out to 1/4 and 3/4 for pigeon shooting. You can get multi-choke SPORTING guns but these are mainly over and unders. Regards Rolfe.

Trappa Mate........if you get used to setting the Talpex a certain way it is simply the best trap on the market (In my opinion) that there is. I still use the Duffus where the situation warrants it, but have switched to the Talpex wholesale. I like the more powerful spring mechanism which delivers a quick and humane kill unlike the Duffus which doesn't take many catches before the spring becomes weak and ineffectual. But it is horses for courses and you must always use what you are comfortable with setting and what gives you confidence in catching lots of moles. All the best Mate Rol

Yes Moley..........Happy Knitting indeed...........wish i had the time to relax and do more.........but work coming out my ears at the moment. Its been manic here on moles at the present time and i could spend all day every day doing nothing else. Hows it with you are you still getting plenty of mole work? Rolfe.

Just airing my personal opinion.......which i thought was the idea of the forum. I dont do egos or bashing other members IF your comments were directed at me But healthy debate can only be good for the site and this differs somewhat from the verbal bashings some members do seem to delight in dishing out. Before this turns into an "I can make a purse net faster than you" type thread, unless you are making purse nets as a business venture, then i can't see the point of knitting a net in 20 minutes. Why rush? i have been making nets for over 40 years and enjoy making them as a way of relaxation......... and not trying to get into the record books. Rolfe.

Yes......i agree entirely..........Lurchers and Longdogs is one of the best lurcher books ever written. I never met the man but i respected and supported his love and knowledge of running dogs and sight hounds. He will be sadly missed. Rolfe.

If you are finding small smooth-edged holes....it could be the work of a bank vole and not a mole. These often take over old mole runs and can easily be confused with mole activity. My personal best.........27 from 45 traps in one pasture field...........all Talpex traps and every trap triggered contained a mole. Rolfe.

Yes at 12 lb/ foot pressure it is on the legal limit..........any higher requires FAC. is it 1.77 or .22 version? Rolfe.

It used to be quite a rough area for want of a better word........but in honesty it is a few years since i have been there for any length of time. I only live about 10 miles away and knew the area quite well. Can you not check the place out first and quiz a few locals. Sorry to be so downbeat.......but i hope things work out for you. Rolfe.

I have a Theoben Sirocco and can highly reccomend them............for £200 if it's mint.........bite his hand off. They are gas-ram powered.........you don't say though if it is FAC rated........check first before buying. The only fault i find with them is........ they can be a bit on the noisy side. Rolfe.
