  1. Tess, Please explain what exactly you were doing outside Chids garden gate???? Rolfey.
  2. I must have been a good boy Lloydy
  3. That was my initial thought too.........but i always thought it went in your thigh not your calf..........but maybe you are right i am no medical man
  4. I'd give her two.........!
  5. Hopefully this is the last days ferreting until next season..........had a good couple of days to clear up an oustanding contract. Weather was glorious and ferreting in amongst a carpet of primroses was the icing on the cake. Only bad point was.....as i sprinted to reach a ferret in a purse net......something "Popped" inside my calf muscle and i am struggling to walk now. Any people out there know what i may have done?........it is bloody sore i know that.
  6. Rolfe - do you mean like this ? Just to protect the edge from being clawed up ? I've not seen one like that before Thats exactly right............that's all you need and the squirrel cannot lift the door. Rolfe.
  7. The baffle just stands upright at the bottom of EACH angled door.......about 15 mm. It is purely to prevent the trapped squirrel lifting the bottom of the doors up. It is the same width as the doors. Hope this helps .........if not i can send a picture later. Rolfe.
  8. Well i used to get a break years ago..........but now i seem to be rabbiting all year round.........luckily its all yew hedges and island flower beds on this job...........so it's a case of running the long nets round putting the ferrets in and standing back.
  9. First day of a two day contract to clear yet more rabbits..........it is never ending this rabbiting lark.
  10. You must be devastated mate........so sorry to hear about your dog....! Rolfe.
  11. Place the larsen trap just out from and under a tree if you can..........it is too high up where it is.........corvids are looking to find carrion on the ground........its more natural. If lambs are a problem then wrap and stake sheep netting around the trap. Rolfe.
  12. Mk 4 Fenn in a tunnel...........(along the shed side) will account for most of them after a short while. Leave it in position to mop up any newcommers to the area.
  13. A couple more pictures to compliment those already posted by Ditch. Badger activity to old tree stump as it ripped it open looking for grubs. And another entrance to an active sett.
  14. Nice one Lass............was it a dog or bitch..............might have some kits somewhere.........looks like a bitch to me? Rolfe.
  15. Try these mate............. www.fhbrundle.com Rolfe.
  16. Walked a fence line this morning at first light and made a mental note of the well used rabbit runs for snaring later in the week.......so the snow does have some advantages. Rolfe.
  17. Peanuts-Hazel nuts-Maize-Peanut Butter etc.
  18. As a routine i always "weather" any new cages prior to using them for the first time. I have always done this in the past as this was how i was taught. Just wondered how many people bothered to do the same with their traps..........or if it made any noticable difference to the catch rate if they were untreated so to speak? The ones in the picture are destined for a new grey squirrel contract..........and i will be trying out a new baiting technique.
  19. Cage traps or Snares assuming you have permission on the land adjoining the railway embankment. BUT....... DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CATCH RABBITS USING EITHER OF THESE METHODS UNLESS YOU ARE COMPETENT AND CONFIDENT IN WHAT YOU ARE DOING... Good Luck Rolfe.
  20. Just thought it might be a good time to mention about checking land you intend to lamp at night........In the daytime for any new hazards. On my patch, they had recently cleaned out the ditches and left this piece of debris on the field edge where i run the dogs after dark. A dog hitting this chunk of metal at high speed after dark would be in serious trouble i think.
  21. If he has used secure bait stations to dispense his rodenticide as he should have done, then there shouldn't be a problem if he has followed all the rules. BUT.............MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE LOCATIONS OF ANY BAIT POINTS AND THE TYPE OF RODENTICIDE USED BEFORE YOU LET ANY DOGS RUN LOOSE. The questions you should be asking are .....what type of rodenticide did he use and in what form.....could it be wax blocks or loose grain..........could it be in liquid form........did he bait burrows etc. Rolfe.
  22. Brian Brinded's site............ http://brian.brinded.tripod.com/ All your netting requirements are here........but there are other suppliers also. Rolfe.
  23. Welcome to the pleasure dome..... Rolfe.
  24. Only use ONE call bird Lloydy........as incoming birds will think a pair have taken over the territory........and will be reluctant to take them on. Moving the Larsen even a few feet............can often make a difference to the catching potential of the trap. As always with all forms of trapping.........experiment with different locations until you find the most successful one. Rolfe.

    women in chat

I agree entirely with your sentiments Tracey.........i know of quite a few women members that will no longer go into chat because of the constant sexual harrassment form certain quarters. There's having a laugh and a bit of banter which is fine, but certain people put no useful input in to chat whatsover.......merely using it as a place to publicly air their own hormonal inadequacies.........When women get to the point where they feel uncomfortable with the unwanted attentions, then this becomes verbal bullying in my opinion. There are some great girls on this site who have plenty of valuable
