  1. Well yes you would have thought there would be charring of some sort.........but that is how it was. What you can't see in the picture is that the deep gouge goes another 20 feet up the tree to the very top.....all in a dead straight line. Rolfe.
  2. Cool. Round here all they (badgers) get to rip apart are wasps nests. Absolute buggers for that game. No rabbits here for them. Just the odd Fenn Double Entry! Here's one they did earlier! Wasps Nest ~ Badgered Here's one a badger dug out on the golf course.........it was a good 12 inches down. Rolfe.
  3. Bought this in Ibiza a few years back..........never missed a mouse in it yet........just wondered if anyone else used them? Rolfe.
  4. Just thought you may like to see the result of a lightning strike on an Oak tree. You can see why they tell you never to stand under a tree in a thunder storm. Rolfe.

maybe you should move into the sheds and use the house for storing or what about erecting a nice big barn Tess you always have a logical answer Rolfe.

    No Room Again

One shed full of cage traps...........another has all the storage and applicatin equipment for gassing.....one full of trapping stuff........Mk 6 Fenns, boxes, drop traps etc......... the other all nets and net making equipment. Rolfe.
  9. Just bought a THIRD shed to keep all my rabbiting gear in and already it is full to overflowing. I dunno where all the kit comes from. This shed was gonna be purely for net-making in............but that idea has already gone out of the window. Oh well better start looking for a FOURTH shed then i suppose. Rolfe.
  10. Bright crisp frosty morning here so had an hour out with the ferrets..........only did a couple of small buries caught a couple........and missed the odd one from an unseen bolt hole as per normal. Why is it no matter how hard you look you always seem to miss at least one bolt hole. The rabbit slipped out that quietly even the dog never heard or saw it.

  12. It's a punk rocker burglar looking in your window. Rolfe.
  13. Badger usually rips open a much larger cavity Ditch, and ALWAYS leaves distinct claw marks in the surrounding hole walls. When the hole appears neat and tidy as this was.........it is always charlie. Rolfe.
  14. Hey Bill..........have you overdosed on Night-Nurse or something.........get a grip mate. Rolfe.
  15. Just been out with the dogs and came across the first rabbit "Stop" of the season for me. Charlie had obviously had a good feed on the youngsters. It was way out in the middle of grass field, so how it was discovered by the foraging fox is quite amazing. Still.........he has helped me with the rabbit clearance i suppose. Rolfe.
  16. Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, drink in the other. your body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "Whoohoo! What a ride". Rolfey.
  17. I have a large golf club contract and like you the buries are situated under 500 year old sweet chestnut trees. These too are often hard to bolt rabbits from and what may be happening are the rabbits are jumping up on to ledges inside hollow points of the trees........ and away from the ferrets attention. On several occaisions i have heard rabbits running quite high up in the hollow tree trunks..........just a thought. Rolfe.

  25. Try switching from the Duffus to the Talpex trap........far more powerful spring and therefore a quicker and more humane kill......in my opinion. I use the Talpex almost exclusively now and my catch rates have increased signifficantly. Rolfe.
