  1. Good post fatman, taking that extra 10 minutes to sort it makes all the difference.
  2. I think I must be getting the wrong end of the stick. A bolting terrier to me is one that will rattle around the earth and make all the right noises and usually bolt a fox, if not it will stay for ten minutes or so then come out. A staying dog will do its best to get to the fox and either the fox will bolt or it will go to a stop and get dug. Lads saying a good bolter will bolt it or stay till dug isn't a bolting dog imo!
  3. I think a bolting terrier is a failed digging terrier. A bolting terrier will give up after so long which is what most men would class as a cull. I agree they have their uses and get the numbers up in a season bit imo they shouldn't be bred from and shouldn't be placed in the same category as a dog that will stay with the quarry.
  4. I'm after getting a pair of these boots, the lowest priced ones I can find are £230, does anyone know where I could get them cheaper or is that a decent price? Thanks.
  5. I used to whinge about the old box beeping but I've got used to it and prefer it to the new box now. Both good pieces of kit and worth the money. I've seen a few of the ortovox's now and I just don't like them, seem a bit light weight and they sound like a submarine.
  6. Same here Goat, you can only kill them once...
  7. They are very good tools, me and my mate used one last week on a place that is like digging dolomite and it cut right through it.
  8. Is there a new one, as in recent or do you mean the red box that's been out a couple of years?
  9. I like the ones that look really bad and when you drop a dog in they're only 2 foot!
  10. Wanting out is different to shying from the shovel. Dogs that want out are usually shit bags.
  11. Are you making sure it gets a good long charge when you do charge it? If you only charge it for an hour here and there the battery will drain quicker. Same as a mobile phone or a battery on a lamp.
  12. I think pegging pups out on digs is good experience, getting them used to the smells and sounds, aswell as getting used to seeing the shovel. Sounds daft but I've seen a few different young dogs that would work well and then shy away from the shovel once you broke through. Good luck with your pup.
  13. Yes, I'll send you some later on, at work at the minute.
  14. He looks it but wasn't to be fair, was about 13-14" and easily spannable. That's when they were both young.
  15. Mine has the nut welded to the shaft and bolt welded to the shovel end, and then a loose nut on the bolt to tighten against the welded nut to keep it from coming loose and it works a treat.
  16. Get a shovel, go to a local fabricator/welder and tell them what you want and they'll do it. That's what I did and can't fault mine.
  17. Nice result, onwards and upwards for the young bitch.
  18. No, mostly the one's down from his sister.
  19. To be fair I've seen quite a lot of dogs from this line and not one of them was timid in any way.
  20. There's two other recent threads about this same line.
