It would be a better situation if someone who burned a Koran was viewed as a nutter and ignored , but in this climate it's viewed as a demonstration of a lack of free speech at best and possibly the undercurrent of a swelling opinion that islam doesn't fit well within our culture as we knew it.

I disagree, the chances are in this Christian culture the burning of a Koran can put your life at risk , we've spent millions of taxpayer money on security for the likes of Rushdie. The cartoonists in France executed for cartoons of Mohammad. Teachers killed and threatened. I feel it sums up where Europe has gone in the last 20 years. I don't advocate book burning but everyone is fine with burning British and American flags and alike they do it in the UK unchallenged

Fair play for having the enormous strength to do all that. Be proud of yourself coming out the other side of an impossibly difficult time. Be kind to yourself and trust in some of your actions and forgive yourself others. Might be worth seeing if you can have someone else try to help with PTSD. Hope you get your self sorted .

I invested £500 years ago , two weeks later it was worth about a tenner , one of the other lads stuck 10k in and another similar , he pulled coins out which ended up costing him $200k. Not something I'd do again but I treated it like a bet so I was prepared to lose just didn't imagine it would be within a week lol

Also our cameras are more for policing crime and terrorism , where I'd say chinas is more for state control . I'm not saying ours aren't used for other things

Yes I get that, I don't see much development, we're patching up roads they're spending £18m on M5 repair near me as concrete under tarmac was dodgy. Trains are overpriced, huge parking charges, potholes everywhere, I think certain sectors are impressive. weapons , universities, unfortunately we've gotten lost with corruption, wokery, privatisation of services done badly and left unchecked. China is a communist dictatorship, a country that starved 50/60 million of its own people and would do it again in a heart beat for the good of the party, no freedom of speech, execution buses, facial recognition everywhere, points for following the rules . I can't think of a worse existence outside of war....

Sorry to hear that mate. I don't think you get over that. Not that I've experienced such loss , but I think I've focused on the living and without being patronising I always say that people live on in memory and sharing stuff about them. We're exposed to death more as we get older but it doesn't make loss easier. Have a beer for him and give me a shout if you want some abuse.

I'm off to Wales soon as a mate has received a double council tax bill for not residing £3.5k in the property, some smack heads broke in and nicked all the copper including gas and he's got to move in for a while so will be testing my plumbing skills out for couple of days, god bless pushfit....
