  1. Bit of a sweeping statement, that ! I've seen deer x's doing everything that other x's can do, and sometimes more, up here in Northumberland....and BTW, I'm a big Saluki fan, so no breed blindness here ! LOL ! Cheers.
  2. I believe alot of the non ped raceing people will not let their dogs see live quarry as pups as the dogs are in the learning process but have heard them running rabbits when older.I am going on when a mate whos now retired from work was running a pup on for another mate a well known lad on the non ped raceing scene and from a 12 week old pup he would take him down to the allotment to spend the day with him .The path to the allotments young rabbits would be running about and the pup managed to catch one when it was 4 and half month old and another at 5 month the lad who he was running it on for
  3. A harmless owld sod, as far as I can gather.... just likes to reminisce about the old days !! LOL !! Cheers.
  4. That's the part I don't understand....... a dog that runs like a "Lurcher", cutting the corners and getting to the rag first, gets penalised, yet the dog that simply follows the rag thru' the gates wins !!! Nothing against people lure coursing, but I can't see how the best dog wins under those rules ? Cheers.
  5. Wuyang; off topic, but your avatar made me smile. I remember when I was in South East Asia, the record I saw for most on a motor bike was 2 adults, three toddlers, a baby, a basket of washing and a dog in the basket !!!!! All on a Honda step thru' !!!! Cheers.
  6. I agree with you 100% poach. I've nothing against Lurchers having a run behind a lure for a laugh, in fact I walk my dogs to the local Whippet track, 3 mile, give them a run or two, then walk back, it's a bit different to normal excersize. I'ts the people who are breeding "Lurchers" 15/16th or even more, Greyhound blood and take the racing so seriously. As you say, why not just get a Whippet or Greyhound and do it properly; under rules and out of traps ? Cheers.
  7. What Amp/Hour battery is it ? Cheers.
  8. But is was'na fair for ye to pay that bairn a fiver to drop the red rosette behind Joe, and have the bairn to ask Joe if it was his rosette !! I thought ye only took the p//s out of us English !! Cheers.
  9. Aye and that insiduos Highlander Joe,who ws so consumed with jelousy at you getting a red rosette, let your wee dug run loose !! Only to be rescued by the site security !! Cheers.
  10. Just seen this and I'm really concerned for you shroom? But being serious for a moment, this old style and traditional show is only made possible by the dedication of one individual and that's Fran!! This remarkable lady and I speak most days! and I know the effort she puts in, she was in great physical pain over the weekend and and still smiled and took this show to the dizzy heights of being one of the best there is? This lass works under a great deal of pressure and fights tooth and nail to give the best for the working dog enthusiast's because she is one of them herself!! she is also m
  11. Ach, an your probably a wee waister who's most likely a Geordie anyway !! I heard my grandad was up that way the year ye was conceived !!

  12. I think MLB may have meant me.... My Deer x won the pups on Sunday. I met MLB's daughter last year, during the lamping competition, and was impressed with her. I met her and her mum at Harewood; good dog people !! Cheers.
  13. An absolutly top two days !! Firstly, thanks to Fran and Aidy for their freindship and generosity! Secondly, thanks to the younger generation, Lee,Kim, and all their freinds for looking after us old 'uns, especialy "Auntie Pam", (I did explain to her what GILF meant !! LOL !!), and last, but not least, cheers to my Jock mates, Tom and Joe; for all that "water of life", that you plied me with when I, (often), visited the Neilston tent !! But for Gods sake, (I know it goes against tradition), but get Joe to wear something under his kilt !!!! He was scaring the dogs, never mind the women !!!! I m
  14. When the Red Kites were on the endangered list, Harewood, and other places, started a breeding and re-introducing program. They now breed in the wild there, very succesfully. I've watched them over the last three years and there is more of them every year and they are getting bolder. As the marquee's were coming down last night, they were landing within feet of us, picking up the food scraps. Harewood also has a hare conservancy program ongoing. Cheers.
  15. Yep - thats what i was trying to put into dog terms. Doesn't work that way, or else a long 28" greyhound would be faster than a shorter coupled 25" greyhound, and as we all know, this isn't allways so. Cheers. i,ve seen some short coupled dogs destroy a long 28 inch dog over 100 yards its when the big dog gets in his stride he should take it.some people like big long dogs for there terrain but up here in cumbria anything over 26 inch can,t get opened up cause the fields are to small. I think you're right! A short coupled dog will do better in sprints and running on small

  18. I don't know the dynamics of it; and I've seen some very fast "short coupled" Whippets and Greyhounds..... but I do like a dog with a good legnth of back. Cheers.
  19. Looks the same style as Lima, I wonder if the others are as tall and racey looking. Cheers.
  20. I'm dissapointed the Leek Eaters didn't do it ! I've spent some good times down there. I was there in the 'Arms Park when Wales beat West Germany 1-0, Rushy scoring. I was in a rugby club near Groes Fean and they turned the rugby off on the telly so I could watch Newcastle play !! They made me an honarary member of Ponty Rugby club ! So I've enjoyed my times down there, even if they do have a funny accent !! I was looking forward to the lads coming up to St James', but that isn't going to happen now !! Next season, hopefully !! Well done, the Tangerines !! Cheers.
  21. Was out first thing this morning with the dogs, and you could see it was going to be a good day. Went to the local Whippet track, the good weather brought a few people out, a few Lurchers there aswell. Gave the dogs a run up, but bloody hell, it was warm. Just had them out local before kennelling them up for the night, and they are lying on the concrete in the run, must be cooler than there boxes. I lived for 26 years in the Middle East, but believe me, I don't like the heat, I prefer the winter, when I can get out and work the dogs ! Cheers.
  22. I use the log cabins a lot, beginning of the season they are fairly cheap, £140 for four nights, sleeps six, and you get free fishing for all the people you register as using the cabin. Don't just look at the price list, 'phone them and ask about "specials", you also get 10-20% discount if you have used them before. It used to be £10 a dog per night, but has now went up to about £30 a night !!! I just tell them the dogs will sleep in the car; never had a problem. Cheers.
  23. I didn't put this post and picture up for an argument or to "sponge" a free collar ! I put it up to highlight the excellent quality and service ! I am more than satified with the collars and have had 100% positive feed back on them from people who have seen them, and even on here, there only appears to be one person who questions them. Cheers.
  24. Dogs and Natives..... we had a very limited night out, .....it wasnt anyones fault, and Bruce beat Delta fair and square that night!! She has NEVER beat Bruce, but he has allways taken more rabbits than her, but even Danny wll concede that the little bitch Delta is a top dog on her day,on things before the ban Cheers.
