    Strike oil did we In the Middle East deserts there are pools of oil that well up to the surface. The wind blows sand across them and forms a crust. Many a 4 wheel driver or biker has fallen foul of them. This instance the hare went across, but the dog went through !! It took some time and a lot of "Fairy Liquid" to clean him up. Cheers.

    I've only owned one genuine, 100%, desert bred Saluki dog. His whole life and hunting career was spent with me in the Middle East. He was PTS at 17 year old. How I wish I had him here to mate some of the Lurchers I've had....... Cheers.

    I'm not well up on pure saluki breeding in the U.K.; but to bring in genuine, working bred stock from coo can only be good for the breed, and also good for future Saluki Lurchers. Cheers.

    "What's easier for a dog; Hare or Roe" ? Bit of a daft question in my oppinion. I've seen hares taken out of their seat by dogs that couldn't catch a hare given fair law...also seen roe bounce of fences and taken by curs that shouldn't be in the same field ! Either animal, given fair law, daytime, is more than a match for all but the best dogs ! Cheers.

    I've seen dogs straightlined by hare and roe, daytime.... also seen the same dogs take hare and roe fairly easily at other times. There are a lot of variables with running certain quarry; such as time of year, type of land, and even weather conditions, One thing I will say, anyone who says daytime roe are easy, let me know where you are running them, 'cause the buggers aint easy up here !! LOL !! Cheers.

    I believe alot of the non ped raceing people will not let their dogs see live quarry as pups as the dogs are in the learning process but have heard them running rabbits when older.I am going on when a mate whos now retired from work was running a pup on for another mate a well known lad on the non ped raceing scene and from a 12 week old pup he would take him down to the allotment to spend the day with him .The path to the allotments young rabbits would be running about and the pup managed to catch one when it was 4 and half month old and another at 5 month the lad who he was running it on for

    That's the part I don't understand....... a dog that runs like a "Lurcher", cutting the corners and getting to the rag first, gets penalised, yet the dog that simply follows the rag thru' the gates wins !!!     I agree with you 100% poach. I've nothing against Lurchers having a run behind a lure for a laugh, in fact I walk my dogs to the local Whippet track, 3 mile, give them a run or two, then walk back, it's a bit different to normal excersize. I'ts the people who are breeding "Lurchers" 15/16th or even more, Greyhound blood and take the racing so seriously. As you say, why not just get a Whippet or Greyhound and do it properly; under rules and out of traps ? Cheers.
