It was a good, relevant thread, but degenerated Into the usual arguments and abuse whenever Newcastle United are mentioned. I, as a Newcastle native, but not a rabid football supporter, was quite interested in the proposed Saudi take over, especially as I lived in Saudi for many years, and I'm disappointed it's not happening. But, it's not the end of the world, it's only football ! Cheers.

If I can get myself a decent pup, we can have a run out next season. I'll still be up for a run out this season with the old uns if I get an invite ? Cheers. -
Geoff was into the coursing and then moved on to the racing whippets. Sadly died last year. Cheers.

Davey going over to the "Dark Side" ? Say it ain't so !! LOL ! Cheers. -
Geoff Fletcher, ( Sowhat), bred some of the the fastest non-ped whippets around. He then crossed them with Beddys and had some success in the lurcher racing. WhippetxGrey's dog, Paddy, out of Geoffs grew breeding has thrown some great pups when mated to lurchers. But in the non-ped racers of today, you have to go way, way back to find anything other than whippet and greyhound. Cheers.

When Oswald Moseley's men marched through London, dressed in black para military uniforms, Parliament immediately passed a law banning para military's. When BLM marched through London dressed in black para military uniforms, the police stood back and let them, and not a peep from parliament .......... Cheers.

I go to the races now and again, and really enjoy it, it rekindles my passion for them from years ago. To be honest, I've thought about getting a non-ped, as I could race it and if it didn't make the grade, I could work it. I know a decent size non-ped would do what I want these days; a hare or two, the odd roe, a few bolted rabbits. I do like them, but I'm not breed blind, that's the problem ! LOL ! I also like Salukis, Beddys, Deerhounds, I've had all sorts of pures and crosses. Something will take my eye, and I'll have it, whatever cross it is ! Cheers.

Bilko and Blue Peter will be found in the lines of just about every non-ped whippet, and could probably be classed as the main stud dogs in the founding of modern non-ped racing. Judicious breeding of the best to the best, with the addition of greyhound now and again has produced the incredibly fast little dogs we se today. Cheers.

Here's the "pedigree" of one of the best non-ped, racing whippets I had back in the early 70's. You can see it had collie/greyhound three generations back; Pot Black; Cheers.

I'm in the same situation, mate. Recently had an old Beddy type put down, and my deer x is over 11 and retired, so I need at least one new dog. Im 68 now, so the next dog I get may well be my last one. Theres plenty of choice of well bred pups, bred from genuine workers out there, so making the decision isn't easy and shouldn't be rushed. Good luck, whatever you choose. Cheers.
-
Yes, so did I, but the "non-ped" whippets aren't " pure " as most have some greyhound in them. So a non-ped whippet x greyhound shouldn't be called an "F1", but they would certainly be "grews". But that's just my opinion. Cheers.
-
There are plenty top class, extremely fast non-ped "whippets", bred from top non-ped whippets x greyhound. Im not sure if they could be called "f 1" as the sires will most likely have some greyhound in their make up, so possibly will be slightly more greyhound than whippet. Perhaps this is the type of stud dog you're after ? Cheers.

Cracking pups, Davey. If they turn out anything like Bruce, they'll do the job ! Cheers. -
Wether we are a "first tier" or "second tier" nation is a moot point; but we can't be BOTH. We can't be a "second tier" nation in imposing austerity on our own people while continuing to be a "first tier" nation in being one of the worlds biggest aid givers, in per capita terms. We can't be a "second tier" military power, downgrading our military, while joining in every war and trying to project military power, like a "first tier" nation. Its a fact of life that all Empires fade or fall, from the Roman to the Ottomam, to the British. Yes, Britain is only a shadow of its former

If you look at it disspationately, you can't blame the immigrants for wanting a better life ! The people to blame are the left wing, politically correct, virtue signallers, and the politicians who are so afraid of having their noses pushed out of the trough, that they ignore the silent majority, and bend over backwards to appease the vocal minority ! How can we change things ? Well, I've thought long and hard and decided that it's to entrenched to change. We, as a country have been in a decline since we pulled back from east of Suez, and the establishment seem happy to become a

I put a post up on a couple of sites some time back, entitled " Are Pures Realy Pure ?". It was basically about my first cross Deerhound/Greyhound. It was easy tracing her lineage way, way, back using The Deerhound Archive and the Greyhound Stud book and Greyhound Data. On the Deerhound side, it wasn't to far back when Ms. Noble was given permission by the KC to add Greyhound to her Ardkinglass line. On the Greyhound side there was Orfords Bull blood, and a bit farther back there was "Rough Greyhound" and "Scottish Greyhound". So, what I'm saying is; if you test Nobles

We went from steam power to petrol power to nuclear power in around 150 years, a blink of the eye in the grand scheme of things. We went from a canvas and wood airplane flying less than 100 yards, to putting men on the moon, and bringing them back safely, in about 70 years, again, an instant in the grand scheme of things ! We've harnessed nuclear fission, and are close to nuclear fusion, so is it to much to ask that we can, in time, find a way of neutralising the waste ? Cheers.

Don't the pedigree whippet racing club DNA test any whippet suspected of having greyhound blood in it ? Ive no faith in dog DNA testing as different company's have different methods. Some have a data base of around 300 "breeds", but whose to say what was actually in the "breeds" that tested. Cheers.

I'll take advice of most people. Never to old to learn is my motto. But I draw the line at listening to the likes of that illiterate, ego centric, know all, bullshitting oaf. Cheers.

There's plenty breeds around the world still doing what they were bred for, including the Polish Chartpolski, Russian Borzoi, Indian Rampur and Caravan hounds, to name a few..........but they are as rare as Ricky horse shite, so finding a genuine one as a base for lurcher breeding is nigh on impossible! Best stick to the tried and tested Greyhound, methinks ! Cheers.
