I don't think he'd talk to the likes of me ? Cheers.

I was very good at my job, and was a non-tax paying expat for many years. Can I have a knighthood as well, please ? Cheers.

I capitalised ANY....... Cheers.

I couldn't care less about his colour or his politics. I wouldn't give ANY tax exile ANY honour. Cheers.

You're on about my old mate Peter. He was from Shap. Used to sell the army surplus gear at the shows, was a pal of Typp Ratcher. Cheers.

My final political contribution of the year.

When you look at the fact that the Torys have an eighty seat majority, and Boris is the Prime Minister, and it was voters in mining villages, who in the past would have rather gouged their own eyes out than vote Tory, who put him there, well that must speak volumes about the present day Labour Party. Cheers. -
Threads like this restore my faith in human nature and humour in the face of adversity! Cheers.

I quite like Penny Mordaunt. Her dad was an officer in the Parachute Rgiment, and she is/was in the Royal Navy Reserves. I especially like her comment about BLM; " I would like for some found guilty of vandalising such memorials, that they would spend some time in the company of our service personnel ". What a girl ! Cheers.

I agree we can demand better and fight for it, and I will never stand for the status quo or erosion of our freedoms and liberties, but I will never accept that we are worse of now than in the past. Cheers.

No, I don't know it. What I know is I had better opportunities and education than my parents. My late children had better opportunities than my generation. Some one mentioned buying council houses , well, we left the inner city during the slum clearances and moved to the suburbs......it was like winning the pools, ( that's like winning the lottery for the younger readers),, inside toilets , electricity, central heating. My parents paid rent for many years, but bought their council house when they got the chance. They would have something to pass on when they died, if they h

I know people look back with rose tinted glasses, but am I dreaming that my parents had four kids in a slum ? Am I dreaming that when my dad was put out of work he had no social security or benefits worth talking about to fall back on ? Am I dreaming that kids had rickets, T B , and some went to school in summer wearing a balaclava because they were ashamed that their heads had been shaved and painted blue because of nits ? I could go on and on, but I guess you get the point. Anyone who thinks we are worse off now than in the past are the ones that are dreaming........

I could handle my bin not being emptied for a week, or my drain blocked, but if I'm having a stroke, heart attack or haemorrhaging blood, I couldn't wait, so, in my mind at least, I don't think nurses and doctors can be compared to bin men and sewage workers. Cheers.
-
The other option is private healthcare. I know the NHS isn't perfect, but my family and I have been treated with nothing but care, compassion, and professionalism by the NHS and its staff. Comparing them with dust bin men, sewer men is ridiculous; I'm not going to die if my bins aren't emptied or my drains blocked. To portray nurses as lazy drugged up wasters is the complete opposite to the the people I've had far to many dealings with in the recent past. Cheers.

Anyone slagging nurses and the NHS will soon change their minds if they find themselves in a life threatening situation.......... Cheers.

Pure beeds where would you be without them ?

All I can honestly say about Darcy's books is I enjoy them, and there's a chapter in " Now That's Wat I Call Lurcher Work 2 ", that is definitely true, it's about my mates dog that I had in my kennel a few times and mentions two of my dogs; "Bruce the Rescue Dog " Cheers. -

Plummer was a writer first and foremost, he sold loads of books, and at one time, he was the most stolen author from public libraries. He told people what they wanted to hear, he was a story teller. His dogs never seen anything like the work other lads dogs did. I remember him coming up here to try and buy game birds and a local breed of small Jack Russell's, he was laughed out of the pub within minutes. I read and enjoyed his books back then, just like a lot of people, shame he began believe his own nonsense. Cheers. -
I think we may agree on many things, Wilf; but I guess I'd do slightly better in an interview for a job with the Diplomatic Corps ! ?? ! Cheers.

The NHS is a socialist project, run by capitalist governments, and I include the modern Labour Party in that. Its a monolith that will consume as much money that can be thrown at it. More and more of the budget is spent on management, advisors, p.c. projects, etc, but not on the sharp end, nurses, doctors, health professionals, etc. Just look at the health minister, a degree in PPE and employment history in finance........no medical expertise whatsoever. But we have no viable alternative. Comprehensive health insurance is out of reach to most. Health "tourism" is insan

Supposing you're right and the entire governments of the world are colluding in this conspiracy; why would they need Covid as a cover ? If they all agreed a "reset" was needed, why not just do it ? Surely there'd be some disagreement with some countries who don't want a "reset" speaking out ? If the rest of the world was worried about Chinese economic domination, why not put huge tariffs on their goods, like Trump did in the past ? A lot simpler than killing off your own populations and wrecking your own economies ! Cheers
-
I don't know enough about it to have a definite view, I just know it's killing people. What I'd have to ask, is why is every country in the world taking it seriously; capitalist, communist, socialist, dictatorships, absolute monarchies, countries that despise each other. Are we supposed to believe they've all came together to perpetuate the greatest conspiracy ever ? To what end , why would they be wrecking their economies ? Countries like Russia, China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Venezuela, to name just a few, allready have control over their populations, so it can't

Over 300 died of Covid in the last 24hrs.. Are the government lying about that ? Cheers.
-
To be honest, I just don't know what to believe. I hear about people going long distances, having to queue for hours and getting false results for the Covid test, yet I had to take my missus and she was the only one there and it took less than ten minutes. Also, as I've mentioned before, both my wife and I haven't had a single appointment, with hospital, GP or dentist delayed or cancelled, and we've had more than I would like ! Im speaking from first hand experience, not hearsay or what's in the news papers. Are we just lucky ? Cheers.

Just playing devils advocate here, but weren't the Nightingale Hospitals built to take the overflow in case of the NHS hospitals being over run ? It could be claimed that the lock downs, etc, contained the virus, so the NHS coped, and the Nightingales weren't needed. If they hadn't been built, and the NHS HAD been overwhelmed, we would have been asking "why WEREN'T they built" Cheers.

Not from there, but you can get the same sort of gear from here, seems a bit cheaper; https://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/ Ive had a lot of stuff from them, allways top quality. I got a PSNI waterproof, fleece lined jumper for a fiver , excellent quality, like new ! Cheers.

Watched two in a row on Prime last night; 13 hours, about the attack on Benghazi American consulate. Lone Survivor , about a failed American mission in Afghanistan. Both true stories. Cheers.
