    These had come from Diego Garcia and stopped off at Jeddah to re-fuel. The C5 Galaxy was another impressive aircraft. Aircraft spotters dream, the Gulf Wars, but as you say, not without its price....... Cheers.

    I remember watching a stick of 8 b52's taking off at full power and circling until they were in formation, then heading off to give Saddam a bit of "shock and awe" and thinking "I wouldn't like to be on the end of that !" Then watching them all come back in , deploying their drogues. An awesome sight ! Cheers.

    Yeah mate, I've no absolute favourites and my opinions have changed over the years with the grounds I've run, the quarry I chase, the expectations I have and the amount of work they need to do. I must admit I've a soft spot for whippets, beddy's, Deerhounds, Salukis. Ive only had one collie x and it was that useless it coloured, ( quite unfairly), my opinion of the breed. Ive seen some top class bull types, nothing against them, but I've never felt they would suit my style of work. As for feet, people will say they've had or seen dogs with flat or splayed feet that were top

    I was allways of the opinion that deerhound added good feet to the deer/grey cross ? ive never had any trouble with feet problems on the few I've had. My old first cross bitch is 12 years old, has ten seasons under her belt, ran every where from the grass paddocks of Ireland to the frozen scree of the Cairngorms and never had a foot problem. She tore open a hock running bolted rabbits on the Scottish hills, but no other feet problems. just took these pics of her feet right now, and they're still looking ok; I know Deerhounds and their crosses aren't everyon

    It's a fact of life that the young allways think they know better ! We did, our parents did, our grandparents did, ad infinitum ! My grandson will think he knows better than me, and probably will. Hence the saying " youth is wasted on the young" ! Image the impossible scenario of having a lifetimes memories, experiences, failiures, successes, euphoria and heartache, but have the youth and vigour to be able to do something with it ..........     The organisers of the vigil are saying it was hijacked by the likes of BLM, Antifida, Extinction Rebellion, etc, turning it from a vigil into a protest against the government and police. But my point in the origional post was the inconsistency in the polices responses to different demonstrations....not the demonstrations themselves ? Cheers.

    Used to get whole rib cages for free from a few butchers in the grainger market in Newcastle, then it went to 50p, the £2 . I now get it from a huge halal butchers in Newcastles west end. Ribs, chicken carcasses, beef bones, etc. Not all goes to the dogs, some of the choice bits go in the slow cooker ! ? ! Cheers.

    I'm on the cynical side of "big cat " theory, but I'm open minded enough to think it could be possible, so it could be the answer to the swan predation. I'd have to rule out other things first. Feral dogs ? Humans killing them and leaving them for other predators ? Shame, though, as they are such majestic birds. Cheers.

    Many, many years ago, I used to excersise and train a whippet for a bloke who owned a pub next to Killingworth lake. This lake did and still has, a huge poulation of swans and geese. The whippet was crazy for them. If he let it out, it would make straight for the lake , launching itself into the water after them. It killed quite a few, until he got rid of it. Years later my old Beddy cross did the same thing, but fortunately didn't connect ! I give the place a wide berth now ! Cheers.

    My point was it's not if they do, or don't. The law is supposed to apply equally to all "without fear or favour". Theres not supposed to be big gatherings, I'm not debating if that's wrong or right, but to kneel down in front of one, join in with another, then go in mob handed on another isn't exactly impartial. Cheers.
