Didn't Col. H lead from the front ? The brass didn't know wether to charge him or give him a medal. He was awarded the VC, posthumously. Cheers.

Just something I picked up in the Middle East. Cheers.

It was all fox hunting with running dogs when I've been there, mate. In Victoria there was a $10 bounty on foxes. That particular dog, Milo, was bred from stag hounds with a bit of whippet. Met his end when he made the step up from fox to boar. Cheers.

I think you're the type of bloke who would love the experience of hunting with like minded people in a different environment.......but I could be wrong, of course ! ? ! Cheers.

Normal fields and escape routes, same as greyhound coursing. Haven't a clue on times. Dont forget, this like greyhound, coursing under rules, is meant to test dog against dog, not dog against hare. Cheers.

I've been down to the Antipodides many times, got lifelong friends in Oz and NZ. I can guarantee that any Brit who goes down there with the right attitude will be be made most welcome and have the best hunting experiences of their lives ! Cheers.

Whippets coursing under rules; Cheers.

Ted Walsh was a devoted whippet man, but I seem to remember he wasn't a fan of hare coursing with them. Didnt he say hares were not a natural quarry for whippets, and some coursing meets were decided on a "bye" or a "gone away" with no hares being our under serious pressure during the the whole meet ? Im a fan of whippets and I've owned non-peds that would take hares regularly, but I've never seen a KC seriously worry a good hare. I'm not talking about taking them from the seat, or kick ups or leverets. Good winter hares ? Cheers.

So What was the name Geoff Fletcher used on here. He died a while ago. Bred some top class non-ped whippets and lurchers. A very knowledgeable dog bloke, a pleasure to talk to. Cheers. -

I've got an old 29" 75lb first x deer/grey in my kennel that has the same grand Sire and dam as a friends 21" 32lb non-ped whippet ! Dig back and you find the same names popping up in most racing whippets and lots of lurchers. Cheers. -

What's the lower limit on the number of tickets sold, or does anyone who bought a ticket get their money back if you don't sell the full 60 tickets ? Cheers. -
Some kind of possum ? Or Chernobyl rats ? Cheers.

There was a time, not that long ago, when Israel was completely surrounded and massively outnumbered by hostile states. There was a saying; "the Arabs only need to win one war.......the Israelis need to win every war" ! All that has changed; the Egyptians, Saudis, Emeratis, Qataris, Jordan, etc, have all either covertly or overtly done peace deals with the Israelis. Iraq and Libya are emasculated, Syria is bogged down in a never ending civil war, Lebanon is overflowing with refugees from all the wars in the area. That basically only leaves Iran and the "occupied territories

No offence intended, mC , and I walked some hours and distance when I was a lot younger, but I tend to put the "30-40 mile walks" in the same category as the "9 minute courses" and the "200 yard lamping slips" ! Might seem like it at the time, but in retrospect , they weren't quite that ! ??! Cheers.

The breed Standard says ears should be"Rose shaped and small". Prick ears would be considered a fault. They crop up now and again, and have done as long as I can recall, but I've no interest in K.C. Shows, so as long as it doesn't affect their performance.....who cares ? ? Cheers.

I can only go by personal experience, and the grews I've seen would give a few exceptional runs on hares, but tire far quicker than a purpose bred lurcher. These dogs were exceptionally fit, but bred and trained for the track. Im no expert, and others, like yourself, will have different views and experience which I fully understand and respect ? Cheers.
-
Never heard of the guy or his breed, but nowt wrong with grews ! They'll take a hare or roe, exciting to watch , but break a lot easier than a purpose bred lurcher. Usually lack stamina , but fine if you want a quick course, on and off the field before it comes on top. Cheers.

Cheers.

I've seen deer hung in a tree before, but obviously by a hunter who's gralloched it and hung the carcass in the tree for later collection, but that pic is very thought provoking ! ? Cheers.
