A pal of mine brought two here to the north east in the early 70's. He gifted me a bitch in the mid 70's; Cheers.

FFS ! That's twice the names been said ! Dont say it a third time.......you've been warned ! ? ! Cheers.

Politics have been turned upside down. Now you've got Kier Starmer saying Labour have allways been in favour of nuclear power, and are now the party of tax cuts, whereas the Tories are now the tax and spend party ! In scotland the SNP used North Sea oil and gas revenue as the fiscal bases for independence, now they are in cahoots with the greens, they want to abolish hydrocarbons ! Who knows what their stance will be if and when the lights start going out ? Boris, probably at the insistence of his wife, was gung ho for net zero, but is now pushing for upping North Sea gas and oi

At one time I probably would have, just to see how they turned out, but now I've got my hands full bringing on a very boisterous deer/grey bitch pup ! ? Cheers.

I thought, reading the other post that I commented on, that the pups were free ? Cheers.

I'll never make a global economist........I'd of thought Russia would want payment for gas and oil in hard currencies like USD, Euro, GBP, ¥en, to enable them to buy arms and materiel on the international markets ? Who would sell to them for payment in worthless rubles ? Go figure...... Cheers.

Deep sixed, as the septics say ! Cheers.

Even at my age, I still get excited when a new pup gets its first kill. Cheers. -

Do you fall over a lot, mC ?? Must admit, I went arse over tit when my pup took her first hare the other week ! ?? ! Cheers. -
Yeah, it's at Fawdon, running down now, closing next year. Job losses at the York factory aswell but not sure if it's closing. Cheers.
-
He's been made redundant, but they stopped the factory shop long before, the tight b*****ds ? Cheers.

Evidently jelly tots have allways been vegan like some of their other products, but some products still use pork jelatine. Theyve just decided to virtue signal by advertising the vegan aspect on their packets. My brother in law has worked at Rowntrees factory in Newcastle all his working life, but now it's closing and transferring to Eastern Europe, another good reason to boycott them. Cheers.

I'd say he must have been smart/intelligent to have written and marketed his books the way he did. Evidently he was the most stolen author from libraries at one time ! We all know he used huge amounts of "poetic lisence", (some would say plagiarism), but his books were required reading for most young lads starting out in the game ! I never met him , but know one first hand tale; he came up to Lemington in Northumberland to interview some pals of mine for one of his books, and possibly buy some game birds and miniature working jack Russell's from them. After listening to him

I never thought I could equate slop and fiery hell, but that pic just about does it ! ? ! Cheers.

A Russian minister today tweeted that there are 10,000 dead and 16,000 injured Russian soldiers. The tweet was quickly deleted, and I quess he wasn't looking forward to his meeting with Putin ! Cheers.

Lurcher beats full greyhounds in race

The black whippet had Blue Peter on his dams side. We used to walk to the track, run a hare on the way there, then run in the handicap, then run a hare on the way home. The whippets them days weren't as fast as today's, but didn't break as easily ? Cheers. -

That black whippet was double "Bilko" bred on his sires side. I remember the owner of Bilko saying he would have liked to have put Bilko to a Saluki bitch, and put a bitch pup out of that mating to a Bilko x greyhound dog. Bilko threw exceptional pups to Greyhound bitches, the best scratch bitch I've ever seen, Daisy, was bred that way, Whippet sized, and as fast as a Greyhound over the sprint distance. Daisy, He was hoping to keep the size and speed and add the Saluki stamina. This was back in the 60's, sadly he never got round to doing it. Cheers. -

"Just splitting hares"......... I saw what you did there ! ?? ! As for the word "lurcher" I've heard the same thing as you, but also that the word comes from the same root as "lurk", as in "lurking around". But who knows ? Cheers. -

I had a whippet in the early 70's that had collie and Greyhound three generations back on his dams side, and Greyhound four generations back on his sires side, as can be seen on his pedigree, but was accepted by the B.W.R.A. as a "Whippet"; Was he a lurcher or a whippet ? To be honest, he caught as many hares as he won races, so it didn't worry me a hap'orth what he was classified as ! ? Cheers. -

I agree entirely ! I was simply pointing out that all racers aren't longdogs. Lurcher racing isn't fun these days, it's extremely competitive with some very lucrative money and prizes on offer, especially in the big Irish game fairs, and, just as in whippet and Greyhound racing, cheating rears its ugly head. Cheers. -

I can only speak from experience, others may be more experienced, and I'll respect their views and opinions ? Cheers.
