At my local rubbish dump, (or recycling centre, as they like to call it), you could bung the lads a few quid and take away anything you needed, and one of the lads working there used to take all the old Dysons home, repair or use the parts to make serviceable ones, and sell them at the car boot. Now that's what I call "recycling " ! Then a new manager came in, sacked the Hoover lad for stealing, and threatened to sack anyone else for selling stuff ! So, more rubbish to the land fill, less recycling, and lads not being able to make a bob or two ! Doesnt make any sense to me

Bedlington terrier stud dog needed
chartpolski replied to sparky the hunter's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
If it was a non-ped that I've heard of, and if he can source a decent beddy, I may be interested in a pup for my brother, his old beddy type is 15 and on it's last legs ? A lot of "ifs", I know ! ?! Cheers. -

All of what's been mentioned has been going on long, long before the ban. Its only because of social media and camera phones that it's now highlited The lurcher game has allways attracted more than it's fair share of idiots, but a lot, maybe most, of them aren't in it for the long haul.....they tend to move on to terriers, pigeons, game birds, cage birds, whatever, but rarely stick with anything for long. Cheers.

She wouldn't hear of it ! By the time I got in from work it was done. She was happy to have a young couple next door to talk to and fuss over. I think she was probably lonely without her husband, my missus was pregnant and still working, the old girl probably felt sorry for us. Cheers.

Thats my pals ex partner. She had nothing to do with the breeding of my pup. Cheers.

I've put the pedigree of my pups sire up in this thread . Cheers.

Whey aye man , that was The Jarrow March ! Even before MY time ! ??! Cheers.

A lot of us lurcher lads from the north east went down, many more would have but simply couldn't afford the train fare ! The protest on Newcastle Quayside when Blair was at theSage was mostly lurcher and Terrier men, and was very well attended. The police wouldn't let us cross the Millenium bridge so we could make our protest more forcefully known to Blair. All to no avail, sadly. Cheers.

The deer/grey was the go to cross for hare and roe up here before the saluki hybrids took over. I remember some of the old Ashington and area dogs like Thor and "The Widdrinton Train", great hare dogs. My mate had one, Brin, the first dog I saw to genuinely do the "four tricks", ( HJKC ), regularly. We mated it with a Greyhound and I kept a bitch pup, it looked like it would make the grade, but succumbed to Parvovirus, which was just rearing its ugly head at the time. Billy Doherty did well with both pure Deerhounds and crosses up here at the time. Maybe the deerhound

When I got married 47 years ago, our first house was a pit house in East Cramlington. The widow wife next door was almost eighty and got a coal allowance of one ton a month. It was more than enough for her, so she would shovel half of it into our coal house for free. The fire was never out, just pull the damper down at bed time, lift it up next morning, shovel of coal and away it went. The water was allways boiling, and we had to run it off now and again. I asked the missus if we got electric bills back then, she said no, the rent, rates, electric were all on the one

I'd guess it's the one with the video of some idiot stamping on a fox cub ? Cheers.

Regular brushing activates the sebeceus glands, the oil glands in the skin. Also helps with muscle tone and lets you find any nicks or sores .? Cheers.

When I went to Manchester to buy the pup, Bill and I found we had many mutual friends from the 60's and 70's Whippet racing, he had originally wanted £250 for the pup, but insisted I only pay £200 for the pick of the litter, then gave me £20 back for luck money. It didn't seem the actions of a man who would renage on a stud fee. ? Cheers.

I think you are mistaken. I kept in touch with the lad that bred Lima, and he only had the one litter from D.K.E. His name is Bill and he's from Manchester. He bought a couple of deer/grey crosses of a lad I know from Bedlington, to breed his own instead of using a stud dog. Cheers.

His dad did my laminate floors ! He was having a coffee break and looked out the kitchen window and saw the dogs in their runs and told me his son had Deerhounds, turned out to be Trevor. Ive never met him, but I was after a deer grey about 13 years ago, sired by Doxhope Knights Errant to a sister to Westmead Hawk, so I spoke to Bill Doherty about the sire. He told me he sold his Deerhounds to Trevor, who now owned the stud dog. I got the only brindle bitch in the litter, and she gave me 12 good years. I don't think Trevor has the dogs now. The pup I have now has both

Another true tale, which has a chapter in one of Darcy's books. Me, LDR and another lad were out for daytime roe. We each had a walkie talky, and we dropped our pal outside a copse that usually held roe with my old Doberman, and we went to the other side and positioned ourselves with the lurchers. I radioed the lad to slip the Doberman, and sure enough, she pushed out two roe, one of which broke in front of LDR and Bruce. Next thing, the radios going " Bruce has pulled in the farm yard, meet you back at the motor". Then there was a crackling of the radio and a disembod

I was lamping with LDR, must have been 15 or 16 years ago as it was Deltas first time on the lamp. Anyway, it came on top and we were away on our toes ! Now, I was twice the age of Danny and he was soon sprinting away from me, so I said " Danny, you stop and see what they want, I'll go and start the motor " ! "f**k off", came the reply ! ? ! This unequivical answer spurred me on and we made it to safety ! Another time we were out first light on the hares and two tractors tried to corner us in a pincer movement. Danny leapt a stream like a stag, I hesitated then j

I've just got round to fitting draught excluder around the doors, and filled holes in the back of the kitchen units with expanding foam. I went around with a lighter and couldn't believe the draughtsI found ! The rolls of foam tape and cans of foam were cheap as chips from Amazon, and there is a very noticeable difference. My gas /electric bills have gone up by £60 a month, but my pension has only gone up by less than £3 a week, so any savings is welcome. Cheers.

What type are the dogs that retrieve roe ? Ive had a dog that retrieved live fox, not something I really wanted ! ? ! But never roe. Cheers.

Sorry to bore people with this pic again, but it's how I imagine the deerhound may have looked before the KC got hold of them; Cheers.
