I mentioned this to my wife yesterday. Why does all the msn refer to them as "the far right candidate Le Pen and Macron." ? Why not " Le Pen and the left wing, globalist, europhile Macron" ? Its a rhetorical question by the way, Wilf, I think we all know the answer ? Cheers.

Saddam invaded Kuwait and Saudi and was headed for the Dammam and Dhahran oilfields and the UAE. if had took control of the entire Middle East oil and gas production the west would have been extremely vulnerable to the supply being shut off. The coalition stopped him. You may have other views, and I respect them, but I was their during both gulf wars, and although Blair took us to war illegally, the outcome protected our supplies. There can be totally different areas in one city, economically and culturally. I was ticking some things off my bucket list one time and did a road trip from Dallas to San Antonio in a rag top Mustang. I took a left into San Antonio instead of a right and ended up in an area that wouldn't be out of place in the third world.....shops and houses boarded up, people sleeping rough and begging, surly, aggressive chicanos staring at me as I passed. No, never been to the stadium, I've got friends down there that moved out to nicer places in Yorkshire, but still have connections with Hull. I don't really care what sort of shithole a place is, it's the people who count, and I've been to some shitholes around the world that make Hull look civilised ! ? ! Cheers.

South Sheilds, Washington, Birtley are nothing to do with Newcastle, mate. Go south of the Tyne and you're in the Mackem Badlands ! ?? When Sunderland had a football team, away supporters used to come to Newcastle for the nightlife, then get the train to Sunderland for the game, the come back to Newcastle after the game. 30 odd years ago Newcastle may have been a bit rough for some, but these days it's up there with most big cities for its nightlife, culture, entertainment etc. And as I say.....I've been to Hull ? I don't think the middleast wars were about "stealing" their oil. I think they were more about protecting the supply of oil and gas. The choices were between letting despots like Ghaddafi and Saddam control the flow of oil, leaders who were pro Russia, anti west. Or supporting the despots of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, who were/are pro west, anti Russia. Its all geo-politics or, as Rudyard Kipling called it, "The Great Game" ! Its been going on since the early 1800's between the west and Russia. Cheers.

Eggs are an unbelievably cheap food source. I've seen trays of 30 for £2:50. I keep hens and ducks and have fresh eggs every day, but the cost of feed has gone up a lot lately and it would probably be cheaper to get rid of the birds and buy my eggs, but I know where my eggs come from, what the birds are fed on and how they are housed and treated, and they are a hobby. There should be no free range British eggs on the shelves now because of the bird flu lockdown, so I guess the price of eggs may go up. Cheers.

Near the end of ww2, German military and civilians were rushing west to surrender to and come under the control of the Uk and USA rather than wait for the Russians. They seemed to know what was best for them. Cheers.

I hope I'm wrong, but reading this thread I get the bad feeling there's people on here who appear to hate the west in general, and America in particular, and have admiration and respect for Putin and Russia. I'm fairly well travelled and have met people of very many races, religions and nationalities, and, sure, there's good and bad in all, but on the whole, I'd rather be in a western democracy, despite its failings, than in an authoritarian dictatorship like Russia, China, North Korea. I think and hope its mostly banter, and the usual " I'll just say the opposite to get a reaction"

When a lad I worked with in Jeddah got jailed for making and selling alcohol, we used to take him a bag of oranges, injected with "sidiqui", pure alcohol. They never realised he was pissed most of the time, they just thought being in jail was sending him loopy ! Cheers.

Le Pen doesn't want France to leave the EU. She wants a sort of "Brexit light". Stay in the EU, but have Frances laws having primacy over the EU laws, pay less into the EU, get back some sovereignty, especially over immigration. She won't win, and even if she did, she would have the same problems we had ; Frances parliament, their establishment and their MSM will fight tooth and nail to obstruct and stop any changes she tried to make regarding Frances relations with the EU. Just watching that show about the bloke from Hartlepool who faked his own death in a canoe. He divorced his missus and now lives in the Phillipines and she works for the RSPCA. They were interviewed about the show, and the only complaint they both had was that the actors used Geordie accents rather than Hartlepool accents ! Cheers.
