  1. PIE, (Peadophile Information Exchange). Harman, and I think it was Patrica Hewitt, both Labour MP's, had some Left Wing group going, NCCL , ( National Council For Civil Liberties)and they invited PIE to join, and supported their bid to abolish the age of consent . Harman actually produced and signed a letter saying photos of naked children shouldn't be illegal. They both served in Blairs Labour Government. But, hey, that's ok, Labour want Boris sacked for having a slice of birthday cake............ You really couldn't make this shit up . Cheers.
  2. I never know if he does it on purpose, by accident or it's just a Freudian slip, but he certainly makes me smile ! ?? Cheers.
  3. Nice looking pup......terrible pic ! ?? Get some better ones up please. I've seen a few, not that exact breeding though, they were Saluki/grey, or coursing type, x deer/grey, and they did well on hares. Cheers.
  4. It's great being a grandad, isn't it mate ? Cheers.
  5. I tend to agree with that, I think it's what is called "Real Politik"; tell the people what they want to here, but in private do everything you can to prevent it ! It would be vastly expensive for the Republic to assimilate Northern Ireland, not to mention the unrest it would cause with the Unionists ! Same with Scotland, wee Jimmy Kranky has to keep the Independence cause in the news so she can demand more and more money, concessions and devolved laws from Westminster. Shed shit herself if Boris said " let's have a referendum tomorrow" ! Cheers.
  6. I don't really want to get into the quagmire of Irish politics, and I'm really ambivalent wether Ireland is unified or not, but I've a couple of observations. Northern Ireland, much like Scotland, has a huge proportion of the working population on the government payroll, public services jobs. Would the Republic be able to absorb these jobs if reunification occurred ? The Scots nats seem to think The rump UK would pay the pensions of people in Scotland if they leave the U.K., but the Westminister government has said absolutely not. Would the Republic honour the pensions of t
  7. No, Nadine Dorrise, the DCMS secretary, announced some vague plan "to look into the future funding of the BBC". Just like sending illegal immigrants to Rwanda, it'll never happen. Cheers.
  8. Not such a daft question. ? In Yards per Pound racing its pointless having a ringer, but in timed racing it's fairly easy to beat the handicapper. Time trial a slower dog, then put a faster dog into the actual race. Or there was "stopping a dog", filling it with food or tiring it out before the time trial, then have it on its toes the following week. Quite common in Whippet and greyhound racing. Cheers.
  9. Yes mate. if the race is 150 yards, the fastest dog starts off "scratch", and the slowest dog starts "off the top mark" usually 21 yards, so that means the slowest dog gets 21 yards start from the fastest dog. This is in timed handicapping In "yards per pounds" racing, the heaviest dog, say 32lb, would start off scratch and the lightest dog , usually 16lb would start off 16 yards. In "Scratch Racing" all dogs start off scratch. Cheers.
  10. I remember a pair of whippets, Silver Fox and Silver Fern that may have been from that line back in the 70's. The lad ran them in the non-ped racing, but they couldn't really compete and allways ran off the top mark. Nice looking pedigrees, though. Cheers.
  11. Worse still would be a Labour/SNP coalition. Cheers.
  12. Although the Independents didn't win a single seat in my area, they came close seconds in every ward they contested. A protest vote ? Probably. Will the major parties take notice ? Probably not. Still, I didn't even know there was an Independent standing in my ward, there was no leaflets through the door, no campaigning. If they had got their act together, who knows ? Cheers.
  13. Don't forget, if the Lib/Dems had won the General Election, they would have reversed the EU Referendum and took us back into the EU without even another vote. Labour want another referendum and would campaign for us to rejoin. Theyre all as bad as each other mate including the Tories, that's why I voted for an Independent this time, who only lost to Labour by 190 votes ! Cheers.
  14. Just to keep you up to date, mate. Hull now has a Lib/dem controlled council. Labour lost three seats, losing overall control. Sadly, my prediction about Newcastle was correct, we still have a Labour controlled council, but at least they did lose one seat. Cheers.
  15. When you turn up at a polling station to vote, they find your name on the list and give you a ballot paper then cross your name off, so you can't vote more than once. At the close of day, there will be many names not crossed off, people who didn't turn up to vote. A corrupt official could use these names to fill in ballot papers of the candidate they want to win, but it's highly illegal and carries severe penalties. Some people don't want to vote for anyone on the ballot, so turn up, have their names crossed off then "spoil" their ballot papers, so no one else can use them.
  16. I wouldn't think so, nobody can use your vote unless they are breaking the law. Whoever gets the most votes, gets the councillor job, same as all voting here, first past the post, no matter what the turnout. Cheers.
  17. Just turn up, no I.d. needed, your name will be on their list if you are on the electoral role ? Cheers.
  18. As I said, not all councils are involved. Google your local council to find out who the candidates are. I just typed in " Newcastle City Council candidates ". Cheers.
  19. You can vote without a card ? Cheers.
  20. I was hoping there would be a Reform Party candidate here, but sadly no, so I'll vote for the independent. Cheers.
  21. Not all councils are involved. We got our voting cards weeks ago. Cheers.
  22. Anyone voting in the Council elections tomorrow ? Im so pissed off with the main parties, I was going to change the habit of a lifetime and not vote. But I've looked at the candidates in my area and other areas around Newcastle, and there's a new party, Newcastle Independents standing a few candidates, so I'm going to vote for them. It probably won't make any difference, as my area is mostly old mining communities, and it's the old " me da and me granda voted Labour, so will I " ! I know there will be people who say " why bother ? ", but I believe, rightly or wrongly, if y
  23. I've recently made my will, and everything goes to my grandson, including the house, so the IT threshold goes up to £500,000. I also have a trust fund for him that isn't included in the IT threshold. Its a disgraceful tax. We have been taxed on earnings, investments, etc, then the money is taxed again with Inheritance Tax. Whatever happened to "double jeopardy " ? Cheers.
  24. I had my house rented out to a Korean professor at Newcastle University once. He kept his kimchi jars in the garage.......the smell lingered on long after he left. Im sure there was a Korean astronaut on the ISS at one time and he was allowed to take kimchi with him, not sure what the other astronauts thought of that ! Cheers.
  25. I think all manure has to "age" to take the acidity out of it. Ive got horse manure piles, covered in black plastic and I leave it for at least a year, then spread a layer over a bed after the veggies have been lifted, then dig it in during the spring. Seems to work. I moved one of my hen runs after about five years, and made it into a raised bed. Just turned it over and planted turnips, they turned out great. Cheers.
