Letting the frost get to them or freezing them is supposed to make a chemical change converting whatever makes them bitter into sugar, supposedly I sometimes add a bottle of cheap red wine aswell. Cheers
-
Yeah, I should have picked them early and put them in the freezer. I bought plums when they were cheap at Aldi, (breaks my heart buying fruit or veg ), and a pal brought me a litre bottle of export blue label Smirnoff off a flight so I’ve made slivovitz, plum vodka Cheers.

I don’t know the answer mate, but we had a bumper crop of sloe berries and I thought I’d leave them until the first frost, as usual , before making my sloe gin, but they disappeared before the frost. Last year we had a bumper crop of plums but this year barely any ! I can’t explain it. Cheers.

I’ll be up on the east coast near the border tomorrow with my bitch and a tiny non-ped x coursing bred that’s doing tremendous, very fast and a lot of wind, seems to have got the mix perfect. Should be fun Cheers. -

I’ve just had to double check that this isn’t the joke thread ”p***y’s R us” Cheers. -
Yeah; Moorman was a good lad, I’m sure he offered to gift me a pup one time This was a great shoot, around 20 years ago; we got £35 for beating, our dinners, first drink bought for us in the pub afterwards, as many birds as we wanted and we could run game between beats and shoots. One time me and Danny were up there and walking past the pens when the keeper came tearing up and said “oh, it’s you two, what you up to ? “ We said we were just running a few hares, he said , there’s three roe sitting in that dyke over there”. He watched as we ran them and my little bitch pulled a y

I was beating on a shoot with LDR and a roe broke cover and Bruce pulled it. The head keeper came running over and we thought we were in trouble, but he said “ drop the guts out of it, give me the liver and get it in your motor sharpish “ ! And we WERE invited back many times. They let us run hares in between beats and the guns all watched Cheers.

I remember meeting an old guy many years ago and he told me they used to bring their Lakies over from Cumberland to Northumberland to cross them with Beddy’s to “put a bit more fire in them “ ! How times have changed . Cheers.

There’s still a few working Bedlington’s; But I’d guess they are few and far between Cheers.

Matt Goodwin to stand for Reform in Manchester by-election. Id say he is definitely “right wing” Cheers.

There’s some saying goes something like “when you’re in you’re 20’s and still learning, you’re a socialist; when you’re in you’re 40’s and learned, you’re a conservative “. I think common sense may come with age and experience, but then again, I know some oldies that have never had any common, or otherwise, sense Cheers.

The Tory’s have just announced a new group that is dedicated to moving the party further to the left, or as they term it “the centre ground”, to win over LibDem voters. So the only party with a chance of winning a General Election that is even remotely “right wing ”, is Reform UK. As I keep saying ; there is no viable alternative, the only other alternative is a Labour, LibDem, Greens, SNP coalition. If people think Labour are bad, this coalition would be disastrous ! Im willing to take a chance on Reform rather than risk a far left coalition. If another viable right wing p

You are getting very political as you, errr, mature mate Cheers.
-
Hope is just about all we have mate The alternative is unthinkable; a coalition of Labour, Greens, LibDems and SNP. As I keep saying; I’ll vote Reform until a viable alternative is offered , then I’ll study that alternative and make a decision Cheets.

I’m loath to show support for ANY Tory, but playing “devils advocate” in the case of Braverman, she was sacked as Home Secretary for going against the Tory Cabinet and demanding we leave the ECHR, and she was one of the 28 “Spartans” who continually voted against Mays Brexit sell out surrender deal . If reform is going to accept Tory defectors, she would be the least objectionable to me. I still think Farage has a long time plan to denude the Tory’s of as many MPs as possible, get into power and start implementing his own plans. At least that’s my hope and opinion. I could be wr

I think Farage has played a blinder, a barnstorming speech in support of, and in front of, an audience of veterans and introducing Braverman, probably the most right wing Tory, the day after Starmer has shown his craven cowardice by blocking Burnhan from becoming an MP, and probably giving one of the safest Labour seats in the country to Reform just to save his own skin Cheers.

You didn’t give him your name, did you Pike ? Cheers.

When my nieces were at school in New Zealand, Japanese was the foreign language on the curriculum. My grandsons school has French and Japanese on the curriculum. Id far rather they were taught one of the Chinese languages as I think Japans influence on the world is declining, whereas Chinas influence is rapidly expanding. Cheers

Just been announced we are sending illegal immigrants back to Sri Lanka and Algeria and paying for them to stay in hotels in their own countries, paying for counselling and paying to help them start up businesses, meanwhile, in Trumps America….. Cheers.
