  1. Let’s go back to before you realised you were wrong and started moving the goalposts. Chid said he never had a duty solicitor at the police station but was at court twice and never paid for a solicitor who represented him. You said how’s that. Franks Dad said legal aid. You didn’t understand the difference between duty solicitor and legal aid. when it was explained to you, you won’t accept it and started moving the talking about “duty free solicitors” ! Your digging a deeper and deeper hole instead of just saying “ah, ok, I get it now “ LOL ! Cheers.
  2. You don’t pay for a Duty solicitor, no one does, it’s your right. You can bring in your own , paid , solicitor if you want and think they would do a better job than the duty solicitor. Legal aid is means tested. If you can afford a solicitor you can’t get legal aid. If you cant afford a solicitor, you can get legal aid. Why you are conflating duty solicitor with legal aid, two different things , is beyond me ! Cheers.
  3. Wrong again! Duty Solicitor at a police station isn’t the same thing as legal aid ! It could happen that one person , like Gnash , pays for a solicitor because he doesn’t get legal aid, whereas someone who can’t afford a solicitor could get the same solicitor on legal aid. I dint see why it’s so difficult, it’s your right to ask for a DUTY SOLICITOR at a police station, but it’s not everyone’s right to get a LEGAL AID solicitor if you can afford to pay for one. This is just going round in circles. Duty Solicitor and Legal Aid to fight your case are two different things
  4. It’s what’s known as “the cab rank rule”, you get the next available one. It would depend on on where you are, what the case is, etc. Cheers.
  5. Your moving the goal posts again ! Whats a “duty free solicitor” ? A duty solicitor is what your provided with at a police station if you ask for one. Legal aid is what you get to fight your case at court. Franks Dad replied to you “legal aid”. You said “ he didn’t have a duty solicitor “ They are two completely different things. Just take it that you didn’t know the difference, it’ll save a lot of time ! LOL ! Cheers.
  6. If I was involved in a car accident and weaned to sue the other party and it went to court for a judge to decide, I could apply for legal aid for a solicitor if I didn’t have the money to pay for one. No arrest, no custody, no police involvement, no duty solicitor. Two different things mate. Cheers.
  7. Your getting mixed up between duty solicitor and legal aid, mate. Anyone arrested and in custody can ask for the duty solicitor. Legal aid is for anyone who needs a solicitor but doesn’t have the means to pay for one. You don’t have to be arrested or in custody to get legal aid. If I had a dispute that needed to be settled in court and I didn’t have the money for a solicitor but, I could apply for legal aid . As I said, have a look at Gov.UK Legal Aid. It’s nothing to do with the duty solicitor at a police station. Cheers.
  8. Anyone can get legal aid mate , if you don’t have the means to pay for a solicitor. It doesn’t have to be a duty solicitor. Look on Gov.UK Legal Aid. Cheers.
  9. It doesn’t need to be a duty solicitor for legal aid. These illegal immigrants appealing deportation use legal aid for their human rights solicitors. Cheers.

  16. I had a jade pendant I got in New Zealand , same design. It represents the Māori myth that the South Island was brought up from the sea bed by a Māori god fishing from the North Island. Cheers.
  17. My favourite of the many stories about OZZY was when Tony Iommi advertised for singer for a band he was forming, and OZZY turned up at his door barefoot, dressed in a kaftan and had an old tap on a piece of string around his neck ! He got the job ! LOL ! Cheers.
