I don’t personally know anyone using performance enhancing drugs on the whippets, but both the Ped and Non-ped governing bodies have drug testing procedures so I guess it must go on. I know some whippet and greyhound people use season suppressing methods , especially on six monthly bitches, otherwise they would nerve be race fit. Cheers.

Same here, my bitch comes into season in march , a perfect time, seasons ended, plenty time for her to relax over the summer and start getting her fit around now for the start of the season about mid-September. Cheers.

It’s not just the seasons, Bangers, it’s about the crops coming down , the ground and most importantly letting the animals breed and the young get a start in life. If we kill the young’uns, there’d be nothing left to hunt in the hunting season. As I’ve said before, if you want to summer hunt, for whatever reason, that’s up to you, but it’s not for me. Cheers.

Id say every coursing bred alive today has greyhound in them. You started this by saying there was no greyhound in the coursing breds, which was ridiculous. Then you said there was a little bit. Then you said your dogs hat a lot of Ballyreagan Bobs blood ! Make your mind up ! LOL ! I don’t understand why you’re trying to deny the obvious ? The original thought was to get the speed of the greyhound and the stamina of the saluki, and it’s damn near been achieved but your trying to write the greyhound out of the coursing dogs history ! To put speed back in the line If they go Saluki, Saluki , Saluki, they end up with almost pure Saluki and lose the speed the greyhound originally gave the line. Even when a Pure saluki stud is used, the bitch will undoubtedly have some greyhound blood. They don’t expect a first cross Greyhound / hybrid coursing dog to be world beaters, it’s about freshening up the line, putting a bit speed back in. mC seems to think all that’s needed is saluki and the greyhound had no influence on the type. How can that be ? Take the Splodge x Fettle mating for an example , they both have greyhound and saluki, and possibly beddy in Fettle, so you are still getting the greyhound blood. You can’t tell me every mating for years has only been back to a pure saluki ? We all know there’s been greyhound added and saluki/ greyhound hybrids. Granted the blood of the modern coursing bred will be heavily saluki, but your trying to write the greyhound out of the type, which is nonsense, simply because of your saluki breed blindness .
