    Be careful about planting seeds to early! It took me three goes to get my green beans to germinate this year. Ive just planted my winter crops a few days ago, parsnips, turnips, chard and sprouts, they have all germinated with this heatwave and plenty water . Cheers.

    Just brought an immediate flashback to the early 70’s; was sent on a job at Eden Valley over Carlisle way for a couple of days, I lived in Newcastle. Spent my allowance in the pub the first night and next day the boss visited the job, I asked him for a tenner sub on my wages, he refused so I got my coat and bag and started walking away, he said where are you going? I said I’m not working for a tight c**t like you, I’ll hitch a lift home and come in for my final pay on Monday ! He got his wallet out and said will twenty see you ok ? Halcyon days ! Cheers.

    It was their winter and a bit frost on the ground first thing, but warmed up quickly. Started with a jacket on then into shirt sleeves. I’ve ran dogs in hotter conditions in the Middle East. Cheers.

    Dave will tell you we had our on-line disagreements but we’ve been out on some great days in North and South Scotland and I consider him a good friend and a top dog man. Same with Max, we’ve had a few disagreements on line, but you’ll not meet a nicer , more knowledgeable dog man in real life. A proper family man aswell . But then again, you get Berwickshires world expert on dogs who’s a shithouse on line and in real life ! LOL ! Cheets.

    I’m not really wanting to get into this, and I’m sure Gunter doesn’t need anyone to stick up for him, but a pal of mine went over last year to hunt with the same lads I’m going to see and they fixed him up with a day out with Gunter and he said to me it was one of the the best days he’s had ! The lads I’m seeing have also recommended I have a day with Gunter and his hounds and terriers, and it’s arranged, and I’m looking forward to it. More “walking the walk” than “talking the talk” ! LOL ! Lets hope all the daft talk dies off when the season starts ! Cheers.

    I don’t know what the wolf hounds in Canada are like, but the ones here would be useless as a cross, far to big and heavy. My little bitch Delta with a pure Wolfhound; The Aussie lads on here will recognise Doug Mummerry, he bred and used pure wolfhounds for hunting and his dogs are in the lines of many crosses, but the Australian version of the Wolfhound is different to our show types ; Cheers.

    when you say family life and convenience I wondered how my family and neighbours felt back in the 60’s and 70’s when the “BabyBurco” was bubbling away all day filled with tripe, lites, pluck, sheeps heads etc ? LOL ! Cheers.

    My deer x bitch loses weight and condition during her season so I give her similar to that, but chicken and tripe. It seems to work . We’ve been discussing feeding raw green tripe on my WhatsApp group and all agree it’s great grub for dogs . Cheers.

    Don’t get me wrong, my dogs would happily eat a tin of chappy or Aldi complete dog food, but I know they look and perform better on the diet I’ve got them on. Yeah, it’s more of a fuss, but it’s my hobby, I’ve got a chest freezer in the wash house for dog food and any game of fish I might get. I get around 50 kilo of raw minced chicken at a time, it comes in 1 1/2 kilo packs, I take one out of the freezer at night and feed the next morning, so no real problem with flies. As for travelling, well as I said, the dogs could have tinned or dry for a few days no problem. When we went to the

    I’ve nothing against any crosses, but I’ve always wondered why use a HPR as a cross, they’ve been bred for centuries NOT to run in or chase game ! Cheers.
