  1. I find whippets easy to judge, there’s a good breed standard for them and there’s not a lot of deviation in conformity between show, racing and coursing whippets like there is in other breeds. The show greyhound looks nothing like a coursing or racing greyhound, the show people have gone for the exaggerated rear leg angle and have , in my mind, ruined them for their original purpose, much like all show types. Cheers.
  2. Less than an hours flight from Newcastle and about £60 return. In the past I’ve never hesitated in jumping on a plane and going any where in the world. This time i had others to consider Cheers.
  3. I planned to come over to the North and see the lads on my WhatsApp group, but circumstances meant I couldn’t go too far or too long from home, hopeful I’ll be over later in the year Cheers.
  4. I only went once. I was invited to judge the Five Nations Whippet show, and they paid for my ferry and accommodation and in the three days I was there I stayed at Ballycommon , right on the Grand Canal and judged the show, had a days fishing and the Master of the local beagle pack took me coursing with the two dogs I took over. A great time with great people Cheers.
  5. I judged at Birr Castle , County Offaly a few years back . They were selling dogs, horses, ferrets, game fowl, all sorts. If I’d known there were no border checks I would have had a car full of stuff going home ! Cheers.
  6. Are you coming over for this show again, Andy ? Theres a few of us going , it’s only a couple of mile from me, my local hunt. Cheers.
  7. Not a fan, then , Juke ? Cheers.
  8. As you know, I respect your views and opinions and agree with the majority of them, but today you appear to be directing invective and rhetoric solely at Farage and Reform, a bit unfair especially when Starmer is behaving like a traitor and the Labour Party as 5th columnists Anyhow, it gets my debating juices flowing Cheers.
  9. I’m not going to trawl through his comments, just watch him on GBNews, he has a regular show and appears as a guest on other shows. The green’s specifically targeted him for his anti immigration views and even, extraordinarily, accused him of being complicit in the Manchester Arena bombing ! His GBNews show is probably available on YouTube This is just one quote of his you surely agree with ? Cheers.
  10. He’s been accused of being a white supremecist, Islamophobia, etc. Watch his show on GBNews, he is by far the farthest “right” in Reform. Cheers.
  11. Matt Goodwin ? Cheers.
  12. I don’t want to come across as Reform UK’s official THL spokesman, , but I think it may be preferable to have a donator out in the open, than donators who operate in the shadows , channelling their donations through shell companies in tax havens as has happened in the past with the major political parties. Still, as I keep saying, I’ll vote for Reform until a more viable alternative comes along, and I can’t see one just now. Restore MAY be that party, and their views MAY align with mine and yours, but as I also keep saying , their views won’t win over the “middle ground” voters, somet
  13. You’re letting your hatred of Farage and Reform cloud your judgment Wilf ! The Labour Party has a Muslim woman as Home Secretary , one of the three great offices of state, and a black man who demands reparations for Africans as Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary. The Tories have a Nigerian woman as Leader of the Opposition. All far more powerful and influential than whatever position Zia Yusuf holds. The Greens deputy leader is a rabid Islamist, not something you can accuse Yusuf of being. Cheers.
  14. This is why Starmer won’t support Trump in the attacks on Iran; he thinks attacking a Muslim country will lose Labour even more votes. Its got nothing to do with if it’s right or wrong, it’s all about his and Labours political survival. Cheers.
  15. The Greens think the Muslim vote will get them into power……and the Muslims think the Greens will get THEM into power. Exactly what Farage has been saying . Cheers.
  16. No, I left them with a pal in Yorkshire Cheers.
  17. Big and flat, no hedges and few fences. Some rock piles. Cheers.
  18. No , and the Ozzies weren’t as anti English as some make out either They made me very welcome Cheers.
  19. I went out with the Barwon Hunt in Victoria, Australia; They had a mixed pack of Irish Harriers and English Foxhounds . Cheers.
  20. I was on Ozziedogs and Boar Dogs forums, both closed down now. I got loads of offers for coursing , working lurchers and terriers to fox and going out with the local hound pack. My daughter lived in Victoria so I had three months there and took up as many opportunities as I could . Cheers.
  21. Some pals of mine did just that ! They contacted like minded lads over there and got invited to go and hunt everything from badger to boar to bear , I could have went with them but I did the same thing and asked if anyone in Australia would let an old Pommey , (Limey), tag along on a hunt. My pals had the time of their lives , as did I Just shows ; “ you don’t get if you don’t ask “ Cheers.
  22. Pheasant breast with spring onion and mayonnaise pitta bread sandwich; Cheers.
  23. No, mate. Dan Edwards who used to be on here gave me an invite to hunt coyote with his dogs in Illinois US, but I never got round to it. As for favourite quarry, I’ve been lucky enough to have ran dogs all round the world on various quarry but I still like to see a dog on a daytime hare or better still , a deer/grey type in full flight on a daytime roe . But I’m just as keen to have a mornings ferreting rabbits here or jump on a plane and go to Australia to hunt fox or New Zealand to hunt boar. Im lucky because I get free flights because of my job, even though I’m long retire
  24. Any time you’re in the north east let me know Cheers.
  25. Didn’t get beyond jotting down a few ideas how the chapters would progress, collecting photos, etc. Talking to people like Karen Fisher of Ruweis Salukis, who’s dad imported Salukis from Saudi and Bahrain, and Hamad Gunhaim from the saluki centre for their input. I saw how lads who wrote books on lurchers got mocked and derided and thought it wasn’t worth the hassle. Cheers.
