  1. Austin & Pickersgill SD14 shipyard in Southwick, Sunderland. My dad, brother, uncle and cousin worked on building the covered dry docks. A little bit of information that may appeal to Wolfie; my brother was labouring to the welders, who, for some strange reason, were all native Americans! Cheers.
  2. I’ve nothing against Phillips ability, I just think City were being a bit greedy with their loan terms; especially with no option to buy. Supposing Phillips does really well, then he goes back to City, it leaves West Ham back to square one and still needing to buy a new midfielder, after investing around £10,000,000 in Phillips for less than half a season. Cheers.
  3. A lot of countries don’t have heads on their coins, but yeah, I can’t see a ref asking the two captains “ obverse or reverse”. Cheers.
  4. Just checked and looks like I got it wrong ; heads is obverse and tails is reverse, so yeah, I guess everyday IS a school day ! Cheers.
  5. I’ve got two £20 silver coins, a £5 coin, and two 12.5 p coins ; all legal tender, not like these coins advertised on tv that are only legal in places like Gibraltar, Tristan de Cuna, Falklands , etc. Cheers.
  6. The “uncrowned” Charles 50p are the ones in general circulation, and they are not “undated”, look carefully on the obverse (opposite side to “heads “ and you will see a tiny year date, and they are worth ….50p. The limited edition “coronation 50p “ has a crowned head and the obverse is Westminster Abbey; Theres far less of them in circulation and they are worth approximately £2:50 to collectors. I managed to get 20 for ten quid from a post office when they first came out. They are with a “Rupert Bear Parliament” and two “ Brexit “ 50p’s that will go to my grandson.
  7. Not prostate cancer, they discovered another cancer when he was being treated for his benign enlarged prostate. Cheers.
  8. Phillips was looked on to be a stand in for our marquee signing, Tonali, who is suspended until next season, but the young lad Miley has been a revelation , and Longstaff is playing out of his skin, plus Willock will be back after injury , so I think Howe just decided that Philips probably wouldn’t be an upgrade worth the money that City wanted, especially with us struggling with FFP. This should change in the summer with the Addidas and Sela sponsorship coming on line and the money we are getting from the Champions League. Maybe City wanted such a big loan fee and for us to pay his
  9. One of the British comedy moments of all time ! Cheers.
  10. I think Newcastle thought “Hmmm, £7,000,000 for less than half a season, Pay his full wages , £150,000 a week, just so we can get him match fit for City to take him back, no option to buy …. nah ! “ Cheers.
  11. That’s exactly why I didn’t want him at Newcastle. If he can’t get a game at City, why should we, a club with aspirations to be up there with them, want him, especially with the financial package City we’re wanting ? Cheers.
  12. Obsidian, a type of volcanic glass can be sharpened to a finer edge than steel and has been used for surgical tools. Cheers.
  13. How can someone be an “expert witness “ on someone they have never met and know nothing about ? Evidently she was paid £2500 from legal aid funds for every “expert witness letter” she wrote. Cheers.
  14. She lived a life that most couldn’t comprehend, she worked for the British Embassy in Saudi, was a manager of corporate accounts for Barclays in Dubai, and was head hunted to be HR manager for an IT company in Australia. She stayed for a while with her fiancé a master sergeant with the American marines, at Camp Legune in Carolina. She was friends with Princes , Sheiks and diplomats, spoke fluent Arabic and finished her education at the Cambridge Annex of the Middle East. Very headstrong , lived life to the full and died all too soon at just 36 Her final couple of months were spent in HRH
  15. Now you can believe this or not, but it’s the absolute truth; when my daughter was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she said “f**k it” and rented an apartment on that street in Amsterdam alongside the canal, the place that’s always used in the adverts. It was literally next door to a hash cafe, and she would just text them and they would deliver her “medication” ! Her Saudi Prince friend payed for everything and his wife visited her regularly , my missus went to stay for a while but being very straight laced found it a bit difficult picking up my daughters “herbal remedies “ ! S
  16. I like Amsterdam, in fact I used to fly Jeddah-Schippol-Newcastle rather than Jeddah- Heathrow- Newcastle and have a couple of days stopover in Amsterdam, usually stayed at the Krasnapolski on the Damrack, Proost .
  17. I spent 26 years in Saudi with my family I’ve been to Dubai and the other Emirates many times and my daughter worked there and my son and wife worked and lived in Saudi, we never had a single problem, in fact we lived a life that most couldn’t imagine. Never believe what you hear, see it first hand before forming an opinion. Cheers.
  18. Don’t believe what you read as far as Saudi law goes mate. To have your hand cut off for theft, you need to have been found guilty on three separate occasions and there have to be three witnesses. Death penalty is for murder, drug smuggling, paedophilia, rape and, strangely enough, poisoning a well ! There's a lot of nonsense talked in the western press about stoning, the last time it was carried out for adultery was in the 60’s , and it was done in an up to date way; a JCB dug a hole in a car park, the woman was stood in it, the iman said a prayer and threw a symbolic stone at
  19. I’ve seen head and hand choppings; would I want it it this country ? Of course I would ! Should people like the Moors Murderers, Neilson , the Wests, be put up at our expense when they are quite obviously guilty of the most heinous crimes ? Cheers.
  20. I remember the Iranians some years ago following the “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” doctrine. A man who threw acid I a woman’s face was held down and acid put on his face; a man who stabbed a woman in her eyes with a pair of scissors had his eyes surgically removed. But, hey , they are savages, aren’t they ! Cheets.
  21. Labour haven’t produced or even hinted at their manifesto for the next election ! They are not commenting on anything they will do, they are just letting the Tory’s dig themselves into a deeper hole ! Cheers.
  22. A fantastic game for neutrials but let’s be fair, if we can’t beat Luton at home, there’s no hope of a top six place. Cheers.
  23. Ah, ok , I just thought as you said “ as I have seen” you may have had experience of running them. My mistake, mate . Cheers.
  24. If he gets a huge majority, which seems likely, he will be able to implement his own policies, Whatever they may be, but if it is a hung Parliament and he had to form a coalition with the LibDems or the SNP, then what? Dangerous times ahead for democracy. cheers.
