  2. Oh i dunno gnasher, remember Bryan Roy or Jason Lee at Forest
  3. My two had sports day a couple of weeks ago, one is a natural athlete, takes up a sport and sticks with it, she has had swimming lessons for 6 years now and never misses them, and is also amazing academically, the younger was just happy taking part but i'm sure will succeed in life through sheer determination and strength of character (i hope). But i was screaming on the sidelines, purely because i want them to enjoy it and be happy, and winning makes them happy. I think any responsible parent wants their child to be happy, and nowdays sucess in sport can be financially profitable but i lear
  4. I love hedgehogs and the population has definately reduced greatly over the years, i used to see them all the time as a kid and now they aren't a common occurance. Many years ago my garden was a regular hedgehog highway and the poor blighters used to squeeze under the 2" gap at the bottom of the runs with obvious consequences Had my old dog find one a few years ago on summer exercise and he carried it 3 miles back to the car 'cos he didn't want to let go
  5. tired, happy and ready for a roll up!!!

  6. I'm out 2, perhaps 3 nights during the season and a couple of times a week during the day. In the past i have travelled with the dogs and visited various counties, as wilf said, different terrain and environment can test your dog. One of mine has had a good first season, i'm very chuffed with him and what ability he has demonstrated, this season his workload will increase along with my expectations and we shall see what happens.......
  7. You have been weighed, measured and found wanting.......

  8. Has now purchased a bull x from a "well known" line, he spends his evenings watching the wrecking crew dvd shouting "have it", "strawberry water" and "oooooooo", before throwing his Plummer books out the window and sobbing into his PTA hanky........

  9. Must admit, its not a blend of lurcher i'd normally go for but they look very well reared and if i was in need of a pup i'd go and take a look........
  10. Always makes the day a little sweeter if you have annoyed or inconvinienced a troll.......
  11. Our lamping ground was a 15 minute drive from mine but i have moved so it will be a 3 hour round trip this season, i used to travel down a couple of times a week to a good mates on the fens, that was about 3 hour round trip too...........
  12. Iused to exercise my mutts on the bike an bought a springer from America in the 90's before they came over here, lost it somewhere but will buy a new one soon. I have never been a fan of using a vehicle to exercise dogs, ever since i saw a terrier get pancaked by a pick up a few years ago, not nice. Local fella stops on a quiet country lane and lets his collie out, he then flies up the road with the dog flat out 2 inches in front of the bumper, makes me cringe.........
  13. It's a shame you were not closer mate, it's a hell of a trek from Northumberland, would have like to give the pup a good home, it's a little gem. A THL classic quote, if you want a dog you will travel anywhere for the right dog......

  17. i think that stabba makes the best dog man doesnt work and just bums about around fernsca so i am led to belive the dogs in is avartar look as tho thay are on the e,s,a as well Stabba is a good mate of mine and i haven't met anybody, and i mean anybody who looks after their dogs better than he does. The best thing about stabba is he always manages to spell avatar, they and though correctly In regards to the original question, i think that the quality of time spent with your dogs is more important. And an abundance of game also brings dogs on quickly....
