  1. Thats good to know, I'll have to do a bit of earning first (Im in the first year of a new business) but once it all comes together I will be in touch. I'd much prefer to go to someone recommended than just take a guess at it. ATB
  2. Cheers Whin, the reason i asked about the horses is that its a bit of a dream of my wife's to hunt like that, not to hounds like here but to running dogs like ours. If thats a possibility then it makes talking her round alot easier if we ever scrape up the pennies for that kind of trip. ATB
  3. Your probably right to be wary, although you should be pretty safe with stories from overseas. They make a good read so dont stop posting, makes me want to plan a holiday! Do they ever hunt from horseback?
  4. Nice one whin, its good to hear a few stories. Makes a change from the usual threads
  5. I used to lamp with a guy years ago, he wouldnt let his dogs near any strangers and actively discouraged them from having anything to do with anyone apart from him. It ment they were very shy round anyone and they would let you know if people were about when you were out at night. They wouldnt run and hide if people turned up but they would keep well out the way and only come close when he called them. Really they were just badly socialised but it suited him.
  6. Thanks lads, am I allowed to enter the October one? Havent seen the thread for the sept comp, has there been one? Wish i knew the rules
  7. Mine started well, caught and semi retrieved her first slip on the lamp at 12 months, 2 out of 3 first night, 3 from 7 second night, i think. The next day she cut herself on glass. Should be back in action next week, hopefully shes not forgotten and makes less of a meal of the retrieve!
  8. Not just you, they are pretty much an expensive waste of time these days
  9. I bought two 10ah batteries with charger etc from cluson on their CLA offer, £150 and no complaints so far
  10. The buggers seem to have started breeding again with this poxy hot weather. Not seen any hoppers for a while but started seeing them again this week.
  11. Great post, made me smile! I have those kind of conversations with the creatures while out on my own too.
  12. Very sorry to hear that. I've always enjoyed your posts about him, a proper working collie. RIP
  13. Get yourself some celox, instant coagulant used by the military and pig hunters. Well worth a go, would have saved you alot of ag last night. Hope your dogs ok
  14. Well done Schuck and Penny! Excellent start
  15. Interesting, how are they finding badger above ground? Is that usual over there?
  16. fecking hate it to mate never a season goes by with out outbrakes of it does it lay dorment in the ground then? As i understand it its carried by fleas and mosquitos. I guess the fleas stay in the buries and when the rabbits stop living out at the end of the summer and use the buries more they get infected, same deal with mozzies, bite an infected rabbit and pass it on. It seems like human colds, sometimes you're snotty for a couple days then its gone other times it puts you in bed for a week! Some years the rabbits get a mild version, a few with swollen eyes about etc and other years,
  17. 2 x 10ah lithium one normal nights lamping per battery but both would give you enough juice for an all nighter
  18. Roughneck mini shovel same as Jai's, ideal for the job. Used the draper version too but dont think they're quite as good quality.
  19. Well done mate, nothing better than bolting to the dogs. Nice and simple. Myxi is strong this year, f*****g hate it
  20. Nice start to the season, well done mate.
  21. I like arctics write ups, not always sure what they're about but good read nonetheless
  22. If she being a moody sod after or during her season try skullcap and valerian tabs from dorwest and raspberry tea, sounds a bit hippyish i know but worked very well on one of my bitches. Its better to do the tea from the very start of her season though. Other than that i'd stop lamping, take her out on varied ground in the day for a couple weeks, when you take her out after let her watch the other dog but dont let her run, make her jealous so she really wants it whatever the ground, might help might not
  23. I need to stock up on bits and bobs but cant remember where i last got it all from. Any recommendations?
