    Well, i've just wasted 20 mins of my life reading a load of grown men bitching like little girls in a playground. I dont know any of you, which is probably for the best, but have to say, Greek Phil, there are some prize idiots on this site but im pretty sure not one of them comes across quite as pompous and gratingly irritating as you. If you could all take your little cat fight to PM Im sure everyone else would appreciate it and Hoolit's thread could continue. Worse than bloody kids.

    Big estates are a nuisance, we're surrounded here. I have to keep going back to my old ground all around where we used to live which is 45 mins away, not too bad but if you lamp a few times a week and ferret the weekends the diesel bill soon adds up! Trying the small places is good advice, often very easy to get on which then gives you an "in" with the larger neighbours. If your only ferreting you can get a good bit of sport from small spots, its lamping which needs alot of acres and that is hard to get for sure. Good luck!

    You'd be welcome anytime. Your ferreting spot sounds good, we could certainly pay it a visit. Might even be able to get on there with permission if you let me know in advance. I try and be good these days I've got some new ground this year too, more rabbits than the bits we've had the last few years so we could have a few good days and nights out too. I was planning to start early this year to get Willow started while the bunnies are still green but shes scuppered that by coming into season last week lol

    That is the best sense i've heard on here on ages. I was just about the type almost exactly the same thing but you've saved me the bother. Im forever chucking people of some of my ground, mostly dog walkers and kids but the odd poacher. Its part of the deal, the farmer is my friend and I look out for his ground the same i would any friends place. Everyones has strayed every now and then and talk of burning cars etc is kids talk.     I was mad for a lurcher as a kid after reading too many poaching books. Both parents were anti's and hated the idea so we settled on a lab. I trained him as a gundog, not what they had in mind, and got into shooting for a long time. Once he died I lost interest in it, i enjoyed working the dog not the gun. I had a few years dog free while travelling about or living in different countries although used to go out with a mate and his lurchers when i could.     Enough has been cut round here but the grounds like concrete. I'd rather wait for the season proper to start than be in such a rush to run on hard ground and end up with an injury just before the season. Roll on the rain!

    I fancy replacing the cigarette socket connections on my lamp, batteries and charger. Had a few frustrating nights last season having to hold them to keep the connection or having to re wire direct to the battery in the field. There must be a more reliable system? Any ideas or links appreciated, cheers

    My locator has had a fairly hard time over the last few seasons and towards the end of last season was about 2 foot out in accuracy. It didnt really matter as it was consistent but i'd obviously rather it read true. Has anyone had experience with deben's servicing, is it worthwhile and what did they charge? Cheers
