  1. A friend of mine has one i got him off here, he shoots plenty with it and seems happy enough
  2. Maybe because cats tend to ambush their prey, they wont chase in the open, so the rabbits are safer away from cover?
  3. Why has my avatar cut the heads off my dogs?

  5. Personally I prefer to work to my dogs strengths and around their weaknesses. I enjoy working the dogs and im not particularly focused on any particular discipline, if they do one thing better than another then I focus on what they're best at. That way they get to excel at what they are good at and i enjoy it rather than getting frustrated trying to force them to be something they are not. Just a thought, not suggesting it would appeal to everyone.
  6. Contact Skycat, i have the most accident prone lurcher i've ever heard of and Penny has helped me out with great advice many times.
  7. Used to be daytime roe but now its all about ferreted rabbits, open buries and no nets just the dogs.

  11. When the girls did the calendar a few years back the money went to lurcherlink and one of the cancer charities, neither of them turned their noses up at it. Cant think which cancer charity it was but try PMing farlap or labsnlurchers who did the pics and organising

  13. So far so good, touch wood. Been watching like a hawk and jumping on any signs before he even knows he's making them. It seems to be working and its much less frequent now. Must just be careful not to get complacent.
  14. Its also worth taking the end cap off the handle and putting a cable tie round the wire inside the handle. That'll stop it pulling through and saves the wires pulling out the switch when you drop it. I also put a lanyard on to hang round my neck, handy when you needs "hands free"
  15. Sorry mate, i cannot use the 'emoticons' thing, so can't stick the "sticky out tongue face" etc so you can see i'm not being angry haha. My point was just that driving about and not just sticking 'local' is fine, and it will increase your bag numbers no doubt, but there are a f**k ton of folk out there doing exactly the same. So even with traveling, to keep a consistent catch rate like that up 7 months of the year, 7 nights a week. Especially at the end of the season? Is, i think. . . Total bullshit. There i've said it. (It wasn't a dig at you buddy). oh i s

  18. The numbers are very impressive. It would be nigh on impossible to do here, there simply arent the rabbits, on my ground anyway. Mine are out on the lamp probably 2-3 nights a week on average, more when the weather is right and less when its frozen or bright. They are out bushing most days though and at least once a week ferreting. If feel mine work hard for not much reward, i would love to see how they'd do on good ground.
  19. Brilliant, this is is what THL should be like
  20. if i could just follow on from that post Tyla, i dont want to pry into your private life, but could the dog be omitting emotions gathered from you,ie protective of your wife which is a natural t hing and or does your wife have fears over the situation with the dogs and the behaviour shown, in some cases the behaviour can become self fulfilling in its self,,thanks, Not a problem mate. Im pretty sure its not that, Amy is very good with the dogs, working, walking, training and excercize is all shared and she has no problem keeping on top of them. I think we have been a bit lax over the la
  21. Sorry Penny, missed your question. The dogs are not full time kennelled, they sleep in at night for security and in the evenings they are usually in the house. Thats when he had a pop at him. We've been doing alot of watching and thinking these last few days. The trigger seems to be over zealous guarding of my wife although i think the root cause is manyfold, Ollie maturing and upping his game workwise, no longer being the youngest in the pack, frustration at lack of work due to the time of year etc. The behaviour starts when the terrier starts edging closer to her and eyeing up the other
  22. Good advice from everyone i hope but i think sirius makes a very valid point in that all you guys can go on is my description of the situation which is always going to be missing something. I will try and find someone experienced locally to meet the dogs and see for them for themselves. I will keep you informed
