  1. Please let me know when, sounds like a great way to spend a weekend
  2. I would be keen to come along on a kayak, catch and cook trip, that's sounds brilliant!
  3. That's a very nice article Mik, sounds like a good job you are doing
  4. I will be very interested to see these pups. Please do keep the pictures coming
  5. That was pretty much what I had thought, it certainly isn't a purdey! The reason it crossed my mind is that I am thinking of replacing it with a o/u. Being double trigger and non ejector it's a pretty basic beast and I shot it yesterday on an invite and could have done with an ejector
  6. I have a BSA s/s shotgun, I was given it years ago by an old guy who was on his last legs. None of his family shot and he couldn't bear to hand it in. It's fairly battered and I have always just assumed it was an old heap but recently I was told, as an English made gun it was worth money. I have no idea about shotgun values, is there likely to be any truth in what he said? The gun has definitely had a hard life though
  7. I'm not in a position to do a pup justice at the moment but i think this will be the route I take when I am. I'd rather know the dam and sire though i think
  8. Very good point shortstaw. I do very little lamping or even ferreting these days but alot of mooching with the bushers and alot of deer stalking. I think the gundog blood would suit what I do now with the added benefit of looking less lurchery. The problem will be finding a pup when the time comes
  9. Perception. My great dog could be another man's shitter and vice versa. It all depends what you want from them
  10. There was one return visit to get the stitches taken out but you could probably do that at your local vets. She was back up and running in 6 weeks and it has never bothered her since. I highly recommend Dan Donahugh, I had a previous bitch who had a toe off at my local vets and it was nothing but trouble
  11. I had the same injury on my bitch but inside toe on back foot. It was forever popping out even after a season off and months of lead walks. In the end I had the toe amputated from that joint by Dan Donahugh. He's by heathrow so no where near you but he is bloody good. She had no problems with it since. I think she was lucky with it being inside rear for though, I wouldn't think they do as much work as outside front.
  12. Having said that Wales1234 has a lovely gwp x who doesn't seem to have that stubborn streak I've seen in the pures
  13. I've never seen a lab x pointer work, but can imagine they would have potential to be very good. I know several gwp, they are hard but headstrong which may or may not be a good thing depending on what you are looking for in the x. You might lose the biddability of the lab if it were 1/2 grey 1/4 gwp?
  14. I'm not that interested in cats but would definitely make the trip for the other species. Do you take guests out and how much do you charge?
  15. If the timing was right I would definitely be in the market for this cross
  16. Barely a negative word said against the cross and yet no one has one currently. It is definitely a route I will look down when the time comes for a new pup
  17. I had a lab before I got involved with lurchers. My very first dog and he taught me alot, I didn't realise at the time but he was some thing special. Would beat and pick up well and once killed a fox in front of the line of guns. He could be a dick with other male dogs though. Would you use a lab as sire or dam?
  18. That was it, never heard much about them after that though. Labsnlurchers wasn't it?
  19. Were they both first crosses?
  20. Whenever these are mentioned good things are said about them but I don't know of anyone on here or in person who actually has one now. I know there was a litter bred a few years ago by a girl who I've not seen on here in ages. Does anyone know of or have one of the puppies? I'm quite interested in the x, I've no space now but when some of the oldies move on its something I would think about. I do a little lamping and ferreting and a lot of bushing and stalking, I think the cross might have a fair bit to offer me. Any thoughts?
