  1. both sound good. I like the sound of Irish terrier x whippet. something a bit different ?
  2. what would be your thinking there? would you put her to a similar dog, or go back to whippet?
  3. I think that makes it 5/8ths to 3/8ths. had them bred different ways, I don't think it makes much difference to working ability.
  4. lovely pup?, how's she bred, first cross, line bred etc?
  5. a lot of the beddywhippets advertised look dubious to me. I have had a few and know you get variation in colours and coats, but some of them look like other stuff in there.
  6. anywhere between 1500 and 2 grand seems to be the regular price at moment. wether they get it is debatable. KC whippets are around the same price. I look regularly as will be having a pup in the next year but have virtually decided to breed my own.
  7. good advice tomo ?. Next pup, I am going to work hard on the retrieve. all the beddywhippets I have had none have retrieved,
  8. hazard of working alone mate. they are not long in a longnet before they have chewed through meshes and lines.
  9. Nice pup?. bit of gamble though, do you think you will have enough work for it trev? ?
  10. daytime mooching. a single dog that can find, flush and catch it's rabbits is in my opinion the hardest thing for a rabbit dog.
  11. I would say the ground plays a big part. I average around 15 miles a day at work, then a couple of hours with little dog. After all these years on the back of a bin lorry the old knees are taking a hammering. never been above 11 and half stone.
  12. good point there must be a reason. only other popular ones around here were whippet x bull. I don't mean pit, i mean the older type of Stafford. both first cross and three quarter. a lot swore by them.
  13. can see why you can't have a proper walk. only thing in common here is the amount of hares never seen so many.
  14. my type of walking. I always have catty with me. he sounds like he's going to be a versatile dog?. mine has had 11 woodies so far, but a little dog bred as she is you would expect that.
  15. Proper mooching, country chappie ?...... catapult catch box, held with a set of traditional longnet pins... ?
  16. what stops you doing that where you are?
  17. when they hit a squirrel at back of the head it doesn't matter.
  18. bearing wearhouse Sheffield, on ebay. Great service have all mine from there.
  19. have had quite a few over the years both generation bred and genuine first cross. my experience has been first cross seem to be more stubborn but a better nose. prefered generation bred temperament.
  20. didn't know it was called that. another good reason to put a Patterdale to a good working whippet.
  21. like the pup ?. I look like putting my first cross back to whippet, could well choose a smooth one if she throws any.
  22. look good strong healthy pups?. I have always favoured a rough coat believing it more weatherproof. then a chap pointed out a good thick smooth coat is better. he didn't mean like a whippet he said like the smooth collie coat. I think he had a point.
  23. fxxck me katch you are becoming the dales hit man, moles, rabbits now jackdaws is nothing safe??
