Sadly she’s moved into the piggeries, her only hope is to run up to me when we do that drive, if she flys, she dies -

Up for a feed this morning a head of Saturdays shoot, not hundreds about but there’s definitely enough to make a day of it, hopefully we’ll be able to put some good birds over the guns and my guest ( a lad off here ) there’s been a good show of woodcock over the past couple of weeks when I’ve been up feeding so fingers crossed a few of them will present themselves from a couple of the drives on Saturday -
I’ve shot a 3 legged fox once, but for some reason I think I’d feel guilty shooting that little chap, I might be getting soft in my old age

That’s a shame as he knows a lot more than me about these things he was using sako and nosler but had supply problems with them, so started using Winchester ( think they are 85’s) and hasn’t had any problems with them he still uses lead ballistic tip for foxes because like me he’s not a fan of sp’s for fox, but they are getting harder to get hold of now, I’ve not been able to get hold of any Sako 70’s BT for months now

Most common is 1/10, as far as I’m aware it’s because it will stabilise a 100gn round ( lead )( i could be wrong im not very technical) mine shoots 90’s better than 100’s a lad I know has been using non lead on deer in his .243 for over a year now and he’s had no problems with them other than the price, I think he uses 85’s or 90’s

I’ve had a few highlights this year One was out stalking a roe buck and being within touching distance of some doe’s then my trip down to the flat lands to visit my mate Robin, I only see him a couple of times a year and it’s always good fun and my first day at the pheasant shoot, after all the problems it was a day that couldn’t of gone any better and my hard work had paid off ?

It’s just been on our local news, it’s got it’s own bouncer’s for this evening, because you can bet your arse some tw*t will be trying to feed it chips or trying give it a line of sniff before midnight

It’s a stunning place mate, once the lad takes over fully in February he’ll be flat out on the pests, foxes, deer and the winged variety are his main things at the minute, ( I think it’s got a bit much for the old boy ) he gave up his job as under keeper on a commercial grouse moor to take this job as he’s never had anything to do with a wild bird shoot, there must be a lot of money in the family because the house, vehicles and allowance to kit himself out with whatever he wants is a very nice package -

Well, it’s been a busy week, I’ve managed to get out most days dodging the rain, the lad I took out on Boxing Day took me up to a private estate in Northumberland where someone we know has taken the keepers job on a wild bird shoot, we’ll be back up there over the coming weeks/months to help him out as the old lad he has taken over from hasn’t been keeping on top of it Ive also been back and forward to the shoot, the birds that are about look in really good condition and although we are limited on drives I think we could be in for a good day next Saturday, it certainly won’t be a big day -
I read that all by myself ? I’ve used a few thermal scopes, pulsar, HIK and ATN, never looked through the senopex, by far the best was the HIK Stellar pro, funnily enough the worst one was the entry level HIK Stellar, it won’t be long before the NV scopes are out with the thermal overlay, more stuff I can’t afford

I’ll give it a thumbs up now and read it when I get home from the shoot, I hope there’s no big words that I have to ask the missus to read for me ??
-
That spray scent gland stuff horrific, my mate got some to try ( god only knows why ) the tw*t spilt it in my car, we had to drive 45 miles home at -3 with the windows open, could still smell it weeks later ?

Chicken and spinach bum burner, last of the leftovers ?

At least he paid in full and you got a carcass with no meat damage, doesn’t matter what’s on top of its head if you are going to eat it ?
